Another one for Tesla before the year ends. It is recalling over 120,000 vehicles for safety reasons. These cars are being recalled because their doors fail U.S. federal standards. Tesla recognized the faulty doors in a formal message on the NHTSA's website.

Tesla Recall: Reason Behind, Affected Models

In particular, an accident could unlock these doors, posing a major safety risk. This unlocking can cause doors to swing open, increasing accident injury risk. Safety inspectors are keenly following this 120,423-vehicle Tesla recall.

The main issue is the doors, which might unlatch unexpectedly in a crash. This defect greatly increases vehicle occupant harm risk. If unlocked, these faulty doors can open after an accident. This follows another large recall affecting over 2 million vehicles, emphasizing the need to solve door-related issues quickly and thoroughly.

As revealed by CNBC, Tesla Model S and X cars made between 2021 and 2023 are the vehicles with faulty door issue. As of December 14, Tesla had not been told of any accidents linked to this issue. Per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Tesla's engineers detected the issue with the faulty doors during their examination of vehicles in side-impact tests.

This discovery was made on December 6, as reported by the agency. CBS News provided more details regarding this Tesla recall due to faulty doors issue.

Tesla's Remedy

Meanwhile, 24/7 Wall St. cited the NHTSA recall announcement. Due to faulty door issues, Tesla recall cars don't fulfill Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 214's "Side Impact Protection." Tesla will deliver a free OTA software update to fix these concerns. Owners will get update letters on February 17, 2024.

Tesla Recall for 2023

Tesla's recall seems to continue as the year is about to end. Prior to this faulty door issues, this famous car manufacturer issued a recall due to other factors.

Autopilot Safety Issue

US Tesla recalled nearly 2 million vehicles last week. Safety concerns over Tesla's autopilot driver-assistance system triggered this recall. A federal inquiry revealed that the autosteer function may have influenced certain drivers to relinquish their responsibilities regarding vehicle operation.

Motor Times reported about this recent issue concerning Tesla. Additionally, Motor Times cited a report by NBC News which was Tesla initiating a recall of more than 2 million of its vehicles following an investigation that revealed the inadequacy of its autopilot safety system in preventing driver misuse.

The specific feature at the heart of this issue is Tesla's Autosteer feature, which the company defines as "traffic-aware cruise control." According to the recall notice, there are certain circumstances in which the effectiveness and range of control of this feature may not be sufficient to prevent drivers from misusing it.

Tesla's "full self-driving" software recalled 360,000 cars in February. An NHTSA spokesman told NBC News that Tesla's autopilot is under review. They're monitoring Tesla's solutions and working with the carmaker to assure safety.

They are actively observing the effectiveness of Tesla's solutions and maintaining collaboration with the automaker to ensure the utmost level of safety.
