Almost 381,000 Tacoma midsize pickup trucks become subjected to Toyota's latest recall. Such targets cars sold in the United States. The reason is a potential issue with a part detaching from the rear axle. This increases the risk of a crash. Included in are trucks from the 2022 and 2023.

Detachment Rear Axle Part, Increase Car Crash Risk

As per The Associated Press, in a statement released on Tuesday, Toyota disclosed that residual welding debris left on the axles' ends could lead to the loosening and eventual detachment of certain nuts over time. This issue has the potential to cause instability and impact brake performance.

Although Toyota refrained from confirming any related incidents of crashes or injuries, the company assured owners that dealerships will conduct complimentary inspections of the rear axles and address the problem by tightening retaining nuts as necessary.

Additionally, any damaged components will be repaired or replaced, with affected customers set to receive notification by mail in late April.

Issue: Toyota Recall

It's a familiar scenario for Toyota as yet another year brings forth a new round of recalls for the renowned car manufacturer. As reported by Reuters, on Tuesday, Toyota has declared that it is starting a recall of 280,663 pickup vehicles and SUVs, according to a US auto safety authority.

This is required to handle problems with unanticipated vehicle movement that occurs when cars are in neutral and the brakes are not applied. Dealerships will give affected vehicles' transmission control ECU (electronic control unit) software updates for free as part of the response.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has provided guidelines for this action. Certain models, including the Tundra and Tundra hybrids, Lexus LX600 cars made between 2022 and 2024, and Sequoia SUVs made the year prior, are covered by the recall.

Meanwhile, Autoblog reported that the majority of the vehicles subject to this recall were originally purchased in the United States, with a relatively small quantity distributed in Puerto Rico.

Should one have any further inquiries regarding the recall, Toyota's customer support is readily accessible. Affected Toyota car owners can reach out to the Toyota Brand Engagement Center by dialing 1-800-331-4331 for assistance with Toyota vehicles.
