Smart #5 made its debut in a striking concept showcase during the recent Beijing motor show, keeping a veil of secrecy over its official specifications. However, the veil has now been lifted as the initial images of the finalized production vehicle have surfaced, showcasing its sleek design and solidifying its crucial technical details.

Only a few weeks after the Concept of Smart #5 was unveiled at the Beijing 2024 Auto Show, images and specifications of the production version already surfaced. As reported by The CarGuide, the dimensions of the Smart #5 place it in a similar size bracket as the Tesla Model Y, boasting a length of 4.71 meters and a wheelbase of 2.9 meters, while standing 1.92 meters wide and reaching a height of 1.71 meters.

This model marks a significant departure from its smaller counterparts in terms of design, moving away from the traditional Mercedes-Benz EV aesthetics. The Smart #5 presents a variety of trim options, accent choices, and wheel designs, with hints of subtle red accents adding a touch of flair throughout.

Further insights provided by AutoCar shed light on the standout features and specifications of the Smart #5. The flagship twin-motor variant boasts an impressive 637bhp output, surpassing the power delivery of the smaller #1 and #3 crossovers by over 200bhp and even exceeding models like the Kia EV6 GT and Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

While exact performance metrics are yet to be disclosed, this configuration is anticipated to propel Smart's latest SUV from 0 to 62mph in significantly less than 3.0 seconds.

Options for Smart # 5, Other Features

CarScoops has highlighted that the Smart #5 will offer customers a selection of four powertrain configurations, including options for both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD), with power outputs ranging from 335hp to an impressive 637hp.

In terms of size, this model shares a similar footprint with the new Honda CR-V, albeit with a wheelbase extended by 8 inches. Contrary to the concept version, the production model showcases a reduced ground clearance, opting for a more traditional setup over the previous all-terrain tire design.

Changes include the elimination of features like the roof rack, suicide doors, and fender-mounted screens for the suspension system. However, distinctive elements such as the sleek LED headlights and taillights remain prominent, along with the integrated door handles and much of the original bodywork design.

While concrete images of the interior remain undisclosed, there is speculation that it may mirror the design showcased in the concept model. The concept iteration notably incorporated a triple-screen arrangement on the dashboard, integrating a host of cutting-edge technologies.

Interestingly, unlike the concept's four-seater configuration, the finalized production version adopts a more practical five-seater layout, prioritizing functionality and passenger capacity.

The upcoming all-electric SUV will provide four different engine options to buyers. Within the lineup of the upcoming all-electric SUV, customers can expect a selection of four distinct powertrain options.

Specifically, the rear-wheel drive (RWD) models will be capable of producing either 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS) or 358 hp (267 kW / 363 PS) utilizing a sole electric motor positioned at the rear. These configurations will rely on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for their energy supply, ensuring efficient performance and power delivery.
