Over the past weekend, a growing number of Tesla users have been sharing their perplexity regarding the conspicuous absence of Disney's popular streaming service, Disney+, from the entertainment options within their vehicles. This unexpected Disney+ removal from all Tesla vehicles has emerged as a result of an ongoing online dispute between Tesla's outspoken CEO, Elon Musk, and Disney's Chief Executive Officer, Bob Iger.

Tesla Drops Disney +

This feud initially ignited when Disney opted to suspend its advertising partnership with Tesla, a move triggered by Musk's controversial endorsement and amplification of antisemitic content on his platform. Although Musk later expressed remorse for his actions, the tension between the two corporate giants remained palpable.

As reported by Electrek, information surfaced from a reliable source indicating that Tesla had officially communicated its decision to Disney+ just last week, notifying them of the impending removal of their application from the Tesla Theatre feature in all its vehicles. However, Tesla refrained from providing any explicit reasoning behind this decision.

Several days later, Tesla followed through on its ultimatum, limiting access to the Disney+ app for Tesla owners who had never utilized the application previously. Consequently, numerous Tesla owners now find themselves bereft of the Disney+ option within Tesla Theatre.

Conversely, those who had previously engaged with the app continue to enjoy unhindered access. It is important to note that Tesla had initially introduced Disney+ integration into the Tesla Theatre during its holiday update in 2021.

What Tesla Owners Say

Mashable SE Asia shared statements from Tesla owners regarding the absence of Disney+ in their vehicle's theater.

A user named @TheTeslaHoe expressed her frustration on social media, announcing, "Disney+ has been removed from my Tesla vehicle. I suspect this action is a response to Disney's decision to withdraw their advertising from X (a move they are fully entitled to make)."

@TheTeslaHoe went on to comment, "This action appears to be akin to a temperamental response, and I believe that Tesla owners are now inadvertently embroiled in a dispute that is unequivocally not of their making."

Other Tesla owners have discovered that the Disney+ app has likewise vanished from their vehicles. Conversely, some users have indicated that the Disney+ app remains accessible.

@WholeMarsBlog, an avid supporter of Musk and a prominent Tesla enthusiast, shared, "I can confirm that Disney+ has been removed from my Tesla Model S. Interestingly, our Hardware 3 Model S, running the same firmware, still retains the app."

The Story Behind

Numerous Tesla owners have conveyed that Disney+ is no longer available on their vehicles, and these reports have surfaced just over a week following critical comments made by Tesla owner Elon Musk regarding Disney CEO Bob Iger. As reported in Washington Examiner, Disney+ removal from all Tesla vehicles follows Elon Musk's criticism of Bob Iger on December 7th for Disney's advertising choices.

Such is particularly advertising on Facebook and Instagram while avoiding X due to concerns about adjacent far-right content. Musk's critique linked to a lawsuit against Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg over sexual predator issues on Facebook and Instagram.

Musk accused Iger of supporting ads near child exploitation content, urging his immediate dismissal. He also implied that Walt Disney would disapprove of Iger's direction if he were alive today since his actions have departed from his vision for the corporation.
