When Hyundai updates the Giugiaro-inspired electric crossover for the 2025 model year, it will become more robust and off-road competent, which will appeal to individuals who enjoy thrilling outdoor experiences, according to Electrek. With a new variation set to release soon, the IONIQ 5 gets a major improvement that ups the ante. Following the recent debut of the updated IONIQ 5 and the introduction of a dynamic N model earlier this month, Hyundai gears up to unveil another iteration of its popular electric SUV.

Hyundai's latest IONIQ 5 iteration boasts an enhanced 84 kWh battery, elevating the electric SUV's range to an impressive 485 km (301 mi) in Korea. Observers can spot subtle design tweaks compared to its predecessor, such as a slightly enlarged rear spoiler and intricate "pixel" accents. Additionally, this model incorporates a fresh rear window wiper for added functionality and style.

Hyundai is preparing to update its highly regarded Giugiaro-inspired electric crossover, the Ioniq 5, according to EVs InsideEVs Global. While fans eagerly await the updated interior and a new rear wiper in the 2025 model year, Hyundai is also planning to increase the Ioniq 5's appeal in order to attract enthusiasts looking for an off-road and rough experience.

Additionally, the cladding sports a pixelated pattern. While the black wheels could be placeholders, the chunky all-terrain tires mounted on the vehicle suggest durability. Notably, a roof rack, an absent feature in the standard Ioniq 5, is also present.

CarScoops reports that Hyundai has recently expanded the Ioniq 5 lineup with the introduction of a high-performance N variant boasting an impressive 641 horsepower (478 kW / 650 PS). In a departure from this performance-focused model, the company is now shifting gears towards a more rugged and off-road-ready XRT model.

This evolution is evident in the addition of roof rails and black plastic body cladding to the electric vehicle. Furthermore, noticeable upgrades include beefier tires and a potentially heightened ride stance.

The transformation continues with the incorporation of a new front bumper featuring cube-like accents, adding a distinct touch to the XRT's aesthetics. While the rear end seems familiar, subtle changes could be lurking beneath the surface, awaiting their reveal.

Hyundai has been gradually growing its XRT lineup, with the XRT featuring black accents, roof rails, and dark chrome details. In addition to these styling elements, buyers can expect approximately 1.5 inches (38 mm) of extra ground clearance and 18-inch wheels complemented by 30-inch all-terrain tires.

These enhancements to the Ioniq 5 XRT seem consistent in style, contributing to a design that deviates from the typical hatchback look. This shift is particularly noteworthy as Hyundai positions the model as a crossover, aligning its appearance more closely with this classification.
