Volkswagen plans launch an upgraded Tiguan SUV, which will include better plug-in hybrid capacity, a more contemporary design, more fuel efficiency, and cutting-edge ChatGPT technology integrated into the dashboard. The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan, which promises to bring a touch of European refinement, will shortly join the fiercely competitive market for compact SUVs.

Tiguan, Upgrade for 2025

According to Car and Driver, with its impending arrival in the U.S., following its earlier debut in Europe, this third-generation model promises a longer body, translating to expanded rear storage capacity. A standout feature includes the incorporation of a plug-in hybrid engine, marking a significant advancement. Noteworthy is the Tiguan's adoption of a suspension and platform akin to the current GTI hatchback, suggesting an exhilarating driving experience awaits those behind the wheel.

DPA International reported that the upcoming third generation of Volkswagen's Tiguan SUV is gearing up to rival models such as the Ford Kuga and Toyota RAV4. Notably, the latest version commands a premium price, starting at €36,600 ($39,700) in Germany, marking a 10% increase from its predecessor.

Despite undergoing a subtle redesign after approximately seven years, exterior alterations are discreet but effective, featuring new matrix headlights, a refined grille, and updated ventilation openings. While maintaining a consistent wheelbase of 2.68 meters, the vehicle's length expands by three centimeters to reach 4.54 meters.

This slight increase significantly benefits rear passengers, who will enjoy additional legroom. Furthermore, the cargo capacity sees a substantial boost, growing by 37 liters to accommodate 652 liters without folding the rear seats. Folding them down further expands the storage capacity to an impressive 1,650 liters.

Sneak Peek: Interior VW Tiguan

The majority of the new Tiguan's improvements are inside the cabin. It now most closely resembles VW's all-electric ID models. The gear selector lever has been moved to the steering column. Digital displays have been added behind the wheel, and a large standalone touchscreen display are among the main improvements.

The vehicle is also equipped with an upgraded voice control system powered by ChatGPT technology. The conversations feel incredibly natural and extend beyond basic vehicle operations. This AI chatbot can now assist with tasks like looking up recipes and narrating children's stories upon request.

The enhanced resemblance of the Tiguan to an ID model can be attributed to its updated powertrain. Volkswagen's highlight is the plug-in hybrid models, now featuring a larger 19.7 kWh battery compared to the previous 10.6 kWh capacity.

This advancement nearly doubles the electric range, allowing the Tiguan to function as an electric vehicle for approximately the initial 100 kilometers. Furthermore, convenient refueling is available at fast charging stations when the battery requires replenishment.

Car and Driver, in the latest Tiguan model, a sizable 15.0-inch infotainment touchscreen takes center stage, acting as the central hub for controlling a wide array of climate and entertainment features. It wouldn't come as a shock if Volkswagen opts to make use of the 12.0-inch infotainment display, complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, as the foundational or default unit for the new Tiguan.
