Maserati has expedited its transition to an all-electric brand, advancing its timeline by two years. This Monday, the marque unveiled its strategic shift, committing to providing electric variants for all its vehicles by 2028. With determination, Maserati asserts that its entire lineup will embrace full electrification by the same target year.

100% EV Lineup for Maserati

By 2028, Maserati hopes to have a "fully electrified" portfolio, which is unmistakably a step toward more ecologically responsible vehicles. While the corporation is focused on expanding its range of electric cars (EVs), hybrid models are something the brand is eager to introduce.

Interestingly, Maserati is already two years ahead of schedule with this expedited timeline. The brand intends to guarantee that every product in its inventory has an all-electric alternative by 2025, proving its dedication to promoting innovation and minimizing environmental effect.

CarBuzz reports that during its recent Folgore Day event, Maserati showcased its electric lineup, featuring models like the Grecale Folgore and GranTurismo Folgore. Within a short timeframe, the Italian luxury automaker has broadened its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio to include three distinct offerings, spanning from a compact luxury crossover to the elegant GranCabrio Folgore convertible, set to be unveiled later today.

Looking ahead, Maserati plans to introduce the battery-powered MC20 next year, providing consumers with the option to experience both gas and electric performance in a supercar. In addition, Maserati reaffirmed its dedication to its plans for a full switch to electric cars.

The highly anticipated Quattroporte replacement is scheduled for release in 2028, signaling a change in the premium automobile industry toward electric. This action fits with a global trend that is gradually replacing gas-powered cars with electric ones, with a focus on sustainability and renewable energy sources.

Maserati is expected to lead the way in establishing a 100% electric vehicle range; the Levante replacement is expected to go on sale by 2027, paving the way for a time when eco-consciousness and luxury will coexist peacefully in the future.

Gas-Powered Cars Phase Out

According to MotorAuthority, Maserati's CEO, Davide Grasso, reportedly disclosed the company's plan to progressively phase out the sale of gas-powered vehicles by 2028, subject to market conditions. Grasso underlined the necessity for flexibility in the transition process by pointing out regional variations in consumer acceptance of electric cars.

By the end of 2025, every Maserati vehicle will either be fully electric or provide an electric engine option. Maserati has strategically engineered two distinct platforms to underpin its burgeoning electric vehicle lineup. The Grecale, a promising addition to the brand's portfolio, is built upon a bespoke Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) architecture, ensuring optimized performance and efficiency.

In contrast, the GranTurismo Folgore, along with its forthcoming counterpart, the GranCabrio Folgore, leverage modified Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) platforms equipped with a strategically integrated T-shaped battery pack. Moreover, Maserati benefits from access to the cutting-edge BEV platforms developed by its parent company, Stellantis, known as STLA, augmenting the brand's technological prowess and enabling a seamless transition towards electrification.

The Drive reported that Maserati also partnered with Vita, the Italian electric boat maker. Together, they designed the 10.5-meter electric boat known as the Tridente, whose carbon fiber hull was produced by Maine-based Hodgdon Yachts.
