Honda has redefined the traditional pickup truck with the Ridgeline, offering a smart, car-based truck designed to meet the practical needs of typical pickup owners. When the Honda Ridgeline debuted in 2006, many enthusiasts of full-size trucks criticized its unibody construction, car-like design, and midsize dimensions.

As reported by Newsweek, nearly two decades later, the Ridgeline remains a fixture on American roads, offering a respectable towing capacity, innovative storage solutions, and a smooth ride akin to the Pilot. Sales have surged since Honda revamped the Ridgeline for the current generation in 2017, culminating in its most successful year yet in 2023 as it adapted its variations and trims to cater to buyers' demands.

The present Ridgeline measures approximately one inch shorter than the Ford Ranger in length and a few inches smaller than the popular Toyota Tacoma. The 2024 Honda Ridgeline features a standard composite bed capable of accommodating 4-foot-wide items, such as plywood, without sustaining dents or scratches, as noted by Honda.

Additionally, it is equipped with eight tie-down cleats for securing cargo and a deep, 7.3-cubic-foot lockable, drainable storage tub beneath the bed floor, ideal for keeping groceries secure and easily accessible.

2024 Honda Ridgeline Trims

The 2024 Honda Ridgeline is offered in four all-wheel-drive trims: Sport, RTL, the newly introduced TrailSport, and the Black Edition, with a base price of $39,750 before destination and handling charges. The off-road-oriented 2024 Ridgeline TrailSport, assessed by Newsweek, is priced at $44,980.

The TrailSport trim enhances capability with an off-road-tuned suspension, steel underbody protection guarding the oil pan from rocks, General Grabber all-terrain tires, and updated wheels. It introduces new paint options like light blue and interior accents with orange contrast stitching.

Continuing from the previous year, all Ridgelines are equipped with a 280-horsepower, 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine generating 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters for manual control on the steering wheel.

As reported by Car and Driver, the mid-size Honda Ridgeline pickup truck strikes a balance between practical work functionality and recreational versatility. Its power comes from a 280-horsepower V-6 engine paired with all-wheel drive. The Ridgeline's smooth ride and car-like steering are attributed to its platform, borrowed from the Odyssey minivan.

For 2024, Honda enhances its pickup truck with a dose of off-road capability through the introduction of the new TrailSport trim level. TrailSport variants feature General Grabber A/T Sport all-terrain tires, extra underbody protection, and an exclusive Diffused Sky blue paint option.

Across all trims, updates include a larger center console and the availability of a Honda Performance Development (HPD) package, incorporating a distinct grille, black fender flares, unique wheels, and HPD graphics. Notably, the Ridgeline's innovative in-bed audio system is no longer available as an option this year. Car and Driver's review claims the Ridgeline sets the bar high in its class for both practicality and comfort within its interior. While it shares commonalities with other mid-size pickups, featuring hard plastics below the dash level, overall interior materials are superior.

Rear-seat occupants benefit from ample space compared to rival models in the mid-size segment. Fold-down armrests on both front seats enhance comfort, particularly given the low position of the center console.
