Mercedes-Benz joined the Valentine's Day celebration. It added something more to watch out for to everyone on love day. 300 of its customers celebrate Valentine's Day with an extraordinarily expensive gift. It had released a limited-edition version of the G-Class called Stronger Than Diamonds, which had featured real diamonds, a specific paint color, and several unique interior accents.

Wednesday saw the unveiling of the newest ultra-exclusive G-Class variant by this renowned German luxury automaker.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Stronger Than Diamonds Edition

Derived from the G550 model, the Stronger Than Diamonds variant boasts a fresh hue named Manufaktur Rosewood Gray Magno, exclusively crafted for this edition. As reported in Autoblog, Mercedes-Benz additionally incorporated a striking black roof panel, each exterior door handle embossed with a diamond logo, and wheels finished in black.

Real diamonds aren't integrated into the exterior design to prevent the G550 from becoming a potential target for vandalism. Diamonds greet drivers upon unlocking the doors: Each of the four stainless-steel door locks houses a 0.25-carat diamond.

Additionally, Mercedes-Benz has equipped the vehicle with edition-specific illuminated door sill plates and adorned the key fob with a "Stronger Than Diamonds" emblem. While interior images remain undisclosed, it's expected to mirror the exterior, featuring black leather upholstery accented by Rosé-colored stitching.

Under the hood, there are no innovations; power is derived from a 4.0-liter V8 engine, twin-turbocharged to produce 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. The robust G550 accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, propelled by a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Mercedes-Benz plans to manufacture 300 units of the G550 Stronger Than Diamonds Edition worldwide. Details regarding the allocation for its market and pricing remain undisclosed. However, it's anticipated that this model will be scarce, in high demand, and consequently carry a premium price tag. Each unit will be accompanied by an indoor car cover and a certificate from the Responsible Jewelry Council, confirming the diamonds' origin.

Inspiration: G550

Robb Report stated over the years, numerous G-Wagen variants have been released. Mercedes described it as "a profoundly unique symbol of love. However, the term unique for this one described maybe an understatement.
Expect a hefty price tag for the 4x4, as only 300 units will be available globally. Mercedes has yet to disclose the specific cost for the Stronger Than Diamonds Edition. However, one may assume that its price will significantly exceed the base model's starting price of $143,000.

As per Car and Driver, the inspiration which is the G550 wasn't the best potent G-Wagon, but it certainly holds its own power. Driven by a twin-turbo V-8 engine generating 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, torque is transmitted to the wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include all-wheel drive and the renowned triple differential locks (front, center, and rear), along with low-range capability.

Car and Driver tested a 2019 model and noted significant improvements in road behavior were observed compared to its predecessor, attributed to an independent front suspension and a lower center of gravity. While the previous version tended to lean excessively into corners, the newer iteration attempts to maneuver without scraping the pavement.

Steering precision in the G550 is notably enhanced, and the ride remains composed even on rough surfaces. Nevertheless, the tall, boxy body is still subject to aerodynamic constraints, resulting in noticeable wind noise at higher speeds, despite the inclusion of a standard acoustically laminated windshield and door windows.

Interior

The G-Wagen has a luxurious interior in contrast to its rugged exterior. It has standard amenities like a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, heated leather seats, and three-zone automatic climate control. Optional upgrades include massaging front seats and premium Nappa leather upholstery.

However, these luxurious features come at an additional cost, especially with the G manufaktur options offering over 54 unique interior upholsteries. Despite ample headroom and cargo space, the driving experience feels more utilitarian than that of other high-end SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga or Rolls-Royce Cullinan, with its boxy design and vertical instrument panel.
