Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 boldly exceeds expectations. Pioneering innovation comes at a premium, with a starting price of $99,495, positioning it alongside the esteemed Hummer EV variants in GMC's electrified truck portfolio.
GMC Sierra EV Denali Debuts
The new Sierra's exterior and interior have been redesigned by the automaker with a modern aesthetic. As per insights from The Verge, two years ago, during its initial announcement, GMC indicated that the Sierra EV Denali would achieve an EPA estimated range of 400 miles, attributing it to a substantial battery projected to exceed 200kWh.
However, GMC has since revised this figure, now stating that the electric truck's maximum range at launch will be closer to 440 miles, marking a significant advancement within the emerging domain of electric pickups.
GMC announced that the Sierra EV Denali estimated base price will be $101,490 plus a $1,995 destination charge. The Sierra EV Denali can add nearly 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes with up to 350 kW of DC rapid charging thanks to its 800-volt design.
Autoweek claims that GMC just revealed a number of important features that set the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 apart from the two other electric truck variants. Notably, this version promises to address a crucial aspect often lacking in electric trucks: range.
It's important to highlight that the 440-mile range pertains specifically to the Denali Edition 1, implying that other iterations of the truck slated for future release may offer slightly varied range estimates. With a 440-mile range rating, it significantly outperforms the (considerably more aerodynamic) EV sedans currently available, surpassing models like the Mercedes-Benz EQS and the Tesla Model S.

Additionally, it stands precisely 100 miles ahead of the Cybertruck's 340-mile range. This specific metric is likely to be a focal point in numerous comparison tests in the upcoming months, particularly during towing evaluations.
As reported by Fox News, reservations for the new Sierra EV Denali truck, starting at $97,500, have reached capacity. Despite this, GMC intends to introduce additional Sierra EV pickups at lower price points. The Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 will be available for purchase this summer.
Additional Features
The fully loaded Edition 1 is poised to showcase several additional features. These include the well-known four-wheel steering feature, complete with CrabWalk capability, along with an Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. Additionally, it will boast the MultiPro MidGate, allowing for a maximum load floor length of nearly 11 feet. GM's Level 2 SuperCruise will also be offered as an optional feature.
GMC Crab Walk Feature
According to information provided on GMC's website, CrabWalk allows the vehicle's back wheels to pivot at an angle equal to that of the front wheels, with a maximum range of 10 degrees in either direction. This unique feature allows drivers to move diagonally at speeds below 20 mph, providing them flexibility in a range of driving scenarios. CrabWalk is ready to tackle any difficulty, whether it involves parking in a tight place, driving through tight spaces, or avoiding obstacles on tight off-road routes.
