Tesla has shown a new Cybertruck software upgrade that will give the electric pickup truck further off-roading capabilities in addition to Cybertent mode. Early Tesla Cybertruck owners will soon be able to access an off-road mode via an over-the-air software upgrade, keeping a promise made since the truck's launch. This update improves the electric truck's off-road capability by adding granular 4x4-style features.

Latest Upgrade for Cybertruck

Electrek reports the Cybertruck will soon get a software update that will add additional functions like off-roading potential and Cybertent mode. Although Tesla has been manufacturing electric pickup trucks for a few months, the business is still in the process of fine-tuning the software, so some essential functions are still absent.

Moreover, according to Electrek, it's common for Tesla to introduce new car programs with unfinished software and then progressively add functionality after the first deliveries. Tech Times reports that the most recent software update brings about traction modes, the capability to engage locking differentials, and even a tent mode, which brings the electric truck up to par with typical off-road vehicle functionalities.

The update was unveiled via a post shared by Tesla's Cybertruck account on X, presenting an Off-Road Mode screen equipped with an array of settings and choices. Among these options are the ability to lock differentials, deactivate rear steering, and additional features.

Off-Road Mode

Tech Times shares about Off-Road Mode. Such feature presents users with two main settings: Overland Mode, tailored for steady performance and enhanced grip across a range of surfaces such as rock, gravel, snow, and sand, and Baja Mode, aimed at optimizing balance and maneuverability.

Wes Morrill, Cybertruck's chief engineer, provided further details regarding the update. According to Morrill, the app now delivers a user-friendly summary of the vehicle's status, grants access to on-board camera feeds for navigation, and offers seamless one-touch entry to off-road capabilities.

Autoevolution delves deeper into the Off-Road Mode features. The off-road application presents an intricate screen where users can access all off-road functionalities, incorporating advanced metrics that enthusiasts will undoubtedly find invaluable.

This screen furnishes real-time visual indicators for pitch and roll angles, alongside monitoring battery, rear, and front motor temperatures. Additionally, it facilitates swift access to front and side cameras, aiding in maneuvering through challenging landscapes. Notably, the Cybertruck now boasts hill descent control, further enhancing its off-road capabilities.

Within the off-road application, users have the choice of three settings for the locking differentials: off, rear on, and all on.

Wade Mode, Cybertent Mode

The latest development from Tesla, as reported by The Verge, shines a spotlight on additional features such as Wade Mode and Cybertent Mode. Notably, Cybertruck owners now have swift access to Wade Mode, enabling the truck to elevate for traversing deep water situations-an option previously touted by CEO Elon Musk, although it's important to note that such usage isn't covered under warranty.

Tesla has also introduced CyberTent mode, a functionality that levels the truck on the horizon, activates the AC, keeps the tonneau cover open, and ensures the outlets remain powered. This feature is specifically tailored to complement Tesla's Basecamp tent add-on, which, despite being available for purchase for over a month, lacked the necessary software for full utilization until now.
