With its planned Neue Klasse lineup of electric cars (EVs), BMW is starting a new chapter in its history. Under the Neue Klasse brand, the company is now getting ready for the upcoming generation of distinctive electric vehicles.

Neue Klasse EV: BMW's Latest

According to TopGear, one of the initial two models set to debut from BMW's upcoming generation of electric vehicles-referred to as the 'Neue Klasse' in homage to the cars pivotal to the company's growth in the 1960s-will be a 'Sports Activity Vehicle'. The CEO of BMW has also affirmed that the second of at least six forthcoming Neue Klasse EVs will be a sedan.

In his statement, Oliver Zipse emphasized that the Neue Klasse represents the largest investment in the company's history, showcasing BMW's strategic transformation for the future. The Neue Klasse is set to kick off with the introduction of a Sports Activity Vehicle and a sedan positioned in the existing 3 Series segment.

The upcoming electric sedan's sneak peek was featured in the original Vision Neue Klasse concept. Between this latest sedan and the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), there will be ample space for fresh models and innovation. These vehicles will utilize BMW's sixth-generation eDrive technology, incorporating three new batteries ranging from 75kWh to 105kWh capacities.

Additionally, an 800-volt system is expected to enhance charging speeds by up to 30%, coupled with a 20% increase in energy density. Ultimately, there is potential for power levels reaching up to one megawatt, equivalent to 1,340bhp.

The Look

As reported by CarScoops, this impressive design originates from the creative mind of skilled designer Fully Leaded, drawing inspiration from the Neue Klasse sedan concept and dubbed as the BMW Vision Neue Klasse M. The virtual concept showcases a muscular two-door coupe, highlighting oversized faux kidney grilles, LED headlights, and large lower air intakes.

Additionally, the design incorporates prominent use of forged carbon fiber on the splitter and flared wheel arches, contributing to the car's bold stance. Center-locking wheels fill the arches, accompanied by forged carbon fiber side skirts that enhance its aggressive appearance. Notable features include rear-facing cameras in lieu of mirrors and the absence of visible door handles.

At the back, there is a sizable ducktail spoiler with a compact carbon fiber edge. The design incorporates angular LED taillights, an LED strip, and a vertical third brake light. Similar to the front, the rear wheel arches are widened and smoothly merge into a forged carbon diffuser that resembles those found on high-performance prototype race cars.

As per SGCarmart, after a series of teasers and the confirmation of an anticipated market debut by late 2025, BMW is now focusing on a key aspect of its upcoming Neue Klasse lineup of custom electric vehicles (EVs): the new batteries. More precisely, the company has revealed the initiation of a high-voltage battery assembly setup at Plant San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to pave the way for the introduction of the latest sixth-generation batteries.

Furthermore, the commencement of the construction aligns with an investment of around $1.165 billion (€800 million) aimed at expanding the Mexican facility dedicated to the Neue Klasse - encompassing over 80,000 square meters. This expansion will introduce fresh body shop, assembly, and logistics zones.
