Pikabug, Pikachu VW Bettle for Sale
As per JALOPNIK, a typical 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle with 170,000 miles valued at a nominal price in the used car market. However, when it comes to the ninth out of ten Pikabugs, the scenario changes. Given its unique status, there's likely a buyer willing to meet the $125,000 price tag for this partially finished model. After all, it represents a significant piece of both video game and automotive heritage!
The report also revealed that the car underwent a change with the replacement of its 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine; however, restoring it to its original specifications is possible. The sale includes the "original engine crated." When initially crafted, each Pikabug featured a CRT television in the rear hatch for attendees to enjoy games or shows at events.
Regrettably, this particular model no longer has this feature, though it could likely be recreated by a specialized audio shop. Additionally, the side decals for this car are currently absent. As shared in Nintendo News, owned by Kerry K. from Wisconsin, the Pikabug has a fascinating history and a distinct charm that captivates observers wherever it goes.
Kerry's journey with the Pikabug started when she noticed it in her hometown and vowed to acquire it for her sons one day. Keeping her promise, Kerry eventually purchased the Pikabug from her mechanic, even learning to drive a stick shift to fully embrace the ownership experience.

Nintendo News also shared that with collectors competing for the chance to possess this exceptional rarity, the Pikabug symbolizes the enduring influence of Pokémon and the enduring memories it has forged among fan communities across generations.
For individuals who hold a profound affection for both Pokémon and classic cars, the Pikabug represents the pinnacle-a nostalgic emblem of childhood aspirations and treasured moments that endure eternally.
As per The Drive, a scarce 1998 Volkswagen Beetle, famously dubbed as a "Pikabug," has been put up for sale in Wisconsin by a seller who expresses reluctance in parting with the Pikachu-themed Beetle.
Having possessed what is believed to be one of the initial ten Bugs that Nintendo acquired from VW in the late 90s, the seller acknowledges that it's time to bid farewell despite feeling sentimental about letting go.
The Drive shared insights from a Pokémon enthusiast, Grace Klich, who revealed that Nintendo aimed to have a fleet of vehicles touring the nation to boost the U.S. launch of the Pokémon games for Game Boy and the animated series. Before their official introduction, Nintendo engaged in an extensive marketing campaign, which involved purchasing several New Beetles from VW in Washington state and having them customized by a body shop in Missouri.
