To broaden its product line and penetrate new markets in North America, Mitsubishi has teased fans with concepts of future models. Through the unveiling of the ambitious 'Momentum 2030' plan, Mitsubishi aims to introduce a new or refreshed model annually from 2026 onwards, substantially augmenting its current lineup of four vehicles in the US market.
An intriguing teaser image accompanies this announcement, hinting at a total of seven vehicles in the pipeline. Motor1.com cited an Automotive News' latest report which shared that Mitsubishi is working to bring forth a production iteration of the D.X Concept showcased in the previous year.
This rugged vehicle, part of Mitsubishi's strategic vision outlined in the 'Momentum 2030' plan, is anticipated to debut later in the decade as noted by Motor1.com. Mark Chaffin, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America, has informed dealers that two brand-new cars will soon be available in the markets.
Expanding on this significant move, WhichCar? has delved into further specifics regarding the unveiling of 'Momentum 2023' to Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) dealers. This strategic initiative encompasses a comprehensive approach focusing on product line expansion, electrification efforts, modernizing retail sales practices, and the amplification of Mitsubishi's dealership network, which currently stands at 330 locations in the US.
Notably, the upcoming vehicles are anticipated to include the next-generation Delica minivan, drawing inspiration from the D:X Concept introduced in 2023, along with a larger SUV positioned above the Outlander, possibly serving as a spiritual successor to the iconic Pajero model.

As per JALOPNIK, Mitsubishi's depiction of the concept vehicle highlights its spacious cabin akin to a multipurpose vehicle, SUV-like road handling, and the driving performance characteristic of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). The innovative D:X Concept, unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show the previous year, showcases advanced design features and practicality.
Referred to by Nissan as an "electrified crossover MPV," this model challenges conventional crossover norms, with Mitsubishi emphasizing its dual-purpose design aiming to offer maximum space and safety for occupants alongside robust off-road capabilities.
With the forthcoming Delica-branded passenger van drawing inspiration from the D:X Concept, Mitsubishi anticipates delivering a distinctive and adaptable vehicle tailored to adventurous lifestyles in the US market, aligning with their strategic vision outlined in 'Momentum 2030'.
Green Car Reports noted that Mitsubishi, having previously offered the petite i-MiEV electric car in the US market, currently features the Outlander PHEV as its sole plug-in model. This choice showcases Mitsubishi's dedication to hybrid technology, with the Outlander PHEV exemplifying the brand's commitment to excellence in hybrid systems, surpassing many competitors in the market.
Launched for the 2023 model year, the second-generation Outlander PHEV impresses with an EPA-rated electric range of 38 miles, demonstrating Mitsubishi's strides towards electrification and aligning with their strategic objectives under 'Momentum 2030'.
