A recent announcement confirms that the Wagoneer S will only be available in an all-electric variant. Electrek reported that prior to its official unveiling, Jeep is already drawing comparisons between its upcoming Wagoneer S electric SUV and Tesla's popular Model Y in a new teaser video.

This year, Jeep is introducing its inaugural all-electric vehicle in the United States as part of a brand revitalization effort. The first model to hit the market will be the premium all-electric SUV, the Jeep Wagoneer S.

Built on the Stellantis STLA Large platform, Jeep describes its electric vehicle as exceptionally quick, boasting a remarkable 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds.

In anticipation of its launch, Jeep has been offering sneak peeks of the Wagoneer S. The SUV features updated iconic elements like a redesigned seven-slot grille and a modern aerodynamic design.

Jeep unveils a pre-production Wagoneer S in a face-off against a Tesla Model Y. The electric SUVs engage in a head-to-head race while Jeep showcases key specifications such as a 0 to 60 mph time, subtracting rollout of 3.4 seconds, 600 horsepower, 617 lb-ft of torque, and an estimated driving range exceeding 300 miles.

Antonio Filosa, Jeep's CEO, expresses confidence that the Wagoneer S is capable of competing with top contenders, including Tesla's Model Y. Filosa believes that their electric vehicle can appeal to customers seeking a level of sophistication beyond what the Tesla Model Y offers.

MotorTrend also covered this recent update. The latest information confirms that the new Wagoneer S will exclusively be available in an all-electric version, given that the Jeep lineup includes four distinct Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer ICE SUV models, along with the midsize Grand Cherokee family powered by gas and hybrid engines.

It reiterated a video released by the brand showcases the Wagoneer S surpassing the Model Y, particularly the Performance variant, in a drag race, followed by a detailed overview of various Wagoneer S specifications.

In previous glimpses of the Wagoneer S, it appears more spacious, resembling a sleek fastback interpretation of the midsize two-row Grand Cherokee SUV. It has been established that the vehicle will offer a premium experience, aiming to rival the Land Rover Range Rover Sport upon its North American release later in 2024.

Described by Stellantis chief design officer Ralph Gilles, the vehicle features a sleek appearance and a redesigned roof that extends below the rear spoiler, giving it a stylish and innovative look. The LED-lit grille has been revamped to cut through the air, transforming the brand's iconic front-end design into an artistic statement.

Pricing

Benzinga reported that the Jeep Wagoneer S electric luxury SUV is likely to go on sale in the United States in late 2024, with an initial cost of approximately $80,000. The Model Y Performance, on the other hand, starts at a far lower price-$51,490. The Wagoneer S's precise final cost hasn't been made public yet, though.
