Volkswagen has recently revealed initial design specifics for the upcoming seventh iteration of the BEV and PHEV Transporter van. Referred to informally as T7, this advanced Transporter model is positioned as a more robust option compared to the ID. Buzz in the market.

Volkswagen is set to provide the Transporter in various configurations once again, including a minimum of two wheelbase options. Sgcarmart reported that Volkswagen has released a concept car's first teaser image, which shows off a potential look at the next seventh generation Transporter.

The new model is anticipated to have a length that varies between 5,050 and 5,450 mm with a design that is similar to the Multivan and the ID. Buzz. Volkswagen emphasizes that the new Transporter's design is influenced by its forebears, with features like the T6.1's headlamps and the T5's radiator grille among them.

The new Transporter has commenced pre-sales in Europe, with the official market release scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. This upcoming model is expected to have dimensions ranging from 5,050mm to 5,450mm and features a shape reminiscent of the Multivan and the ID. Buzz.

Transporter's Design and More

According to Autoevolution, although the side profile bears a resemblance to its Ford Transit Custom counterpart, distinguished by the absence of a flat side window line, notable distinctions exist in the front and rear sections.

The new Transporter's front design takes cues from the ID. Buzz and Multivan, while featuring distinct taillights with LED graphics positioned on each side of the tailgate or dual doors, depending on the setup.

The upcoming Volkswagen Transporter will vary in length, ranging from 198.8 inches or 5,050 mm to 214.6 inches or 5,450 mm based on the selected model. It will align with the wheelbase options of the Ford Transit Custom, extending this similarity to the range of powertrains available.

Consequently, the new Transporter is anticipated to offer diesel engines, plug-in hybrid configurations, and battery-electric options. As reported by Autoevolution, it is noted that although not yet formally revealed, potential customers have the opportunity to register their interest in the 2025 Volkswagen Transporter T7.

The LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) division of the Wolfsburg automaker has initiated pre-sales in Europe for this model, indicating that the forthcoming Transporter begins at €36,780 in its domestic market of Germany, excluding taxes, equivalent to $39,835 based on present exchange rates.

As communicated by CarBuzz, it has been disclosed that the Transporter will offer a range of drivetrain options. Carsten Intra, the CEO of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, commented that developing an additional platform for the same vehicle is financially unfeasible due to high costs.

He highlighted that unlike the California model, this vehicle does not yield the highest profit margin per sale. In contrast to the all-electric ID. Buzz and the ICE/PHEV-powered Multivan, the forthcoming Transporter is designed to meet a range of customer requirements using a single platform.

CarBuzz also reported that similar to the Transit, the electric variant of the Transporter is projected to achieve approximately 236 miles on the demanding WLTP cycle and provide a power output ranging between 134 and 215 horsepower.

Forecasts suggest that the plug-in hybrid model could reach up to 222 hp, while the diesel iterations are anticipated to deliver a maximum of 148 horsepower, coupled with a manual gearbox. It is probable that an automatic transmission, paired with all-wheel drive, will be available as an option.
