Ford Reveals F-150 Lightning SuperTruck with 1,400 HP, Ready to Conquer Records

Ford has unveiled its latest vehicle, the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck equipped with a powerful tri-motor powertrain generating over 1,400 horsepower. This latest from ford, the F-150 Lightning is gearing up for a thrilling run at the renowned Pikes Peak Hill Climb event.

As the date of June 23 comes close, the SuperTruck is poised for action at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Romain Dumas will go behind the wheel of this innovative vehicle. Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck is set on surpassing the notable SuperVan 4.2 from previous competitions record in the Open Class category.

An update from MotorAuthority stated that Ford unveiled the truck's outstanding power numbers on Monday, one week before the 2024 Pikes Peak Hill Climb starting on June 23. At 150 mph, the SuperTruck's aerodynamic capabilities-which include a triple-element front wing, headlight and hood ducts, louvers, side and back diffusers, and a sizable rear wing-help it produces an incredible 6,000 pounds of downforce.

Indeed, Ford will come to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb event ready to conquer the racetrack. Equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes, Pirelli P-Zero tires mounted on forged magnesium wheels, and a bespoke inboard suspension system, the SuperTruck showcases a blend of cutting-edge technologies.

While currently a unique demonstration model, Ford has alluded to the potential development of a production-ready Lightning variant. In 2023, Ford teased enthusiasts with the introduction of a high-performance F-150 Lightning concept, sparking speculation about its resemblance to the production model compared to the specialized SuperTruck.

Despite the anticipation, Ford has yet to reveal further details about this intriguing concept. As reported by CarScoops, insights into the F-10 Lightning SuperTruck have surfaced as the Pikes Peak International Hill Clim event countdown nears its conclusion. The automaker revealed that this model boasts a tri-motor powertrain reminiscent of the one found in the previous year's SuperVan 4.2.

The STARD UHP six-phase motors deliver an impressive output surpassing 1,400 horsepower (1,044 kW / 1,419 PS), fueled by cutting-edge "Ultra-High Performance Li-Polymer NMC cells." In preparation for the upcoming event, Dumas expressed excitement about returning to the driving seat after a triumphant climb in 2023.

He looks forward to working with the team to discover the boundaries of electric vehicle performance on the renowned course. Impressed by the exceptional performance of the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck during testing, he anticipates favorable weather conditions to aim for a remarkable accomplishment on race day.

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

As highlighted by Electrek, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, famously dubbed the "race to the clouds," has a rich history spanning over a century, now marking its 102nd year. Participants from various corners of the world converge to navigate the challenging 12.42-mile course, vying to set new speed records.

Electrek also shared its thoughts regarding the changes on this event. Despite its enduring legacy, the event is turning a gradual shift towards electric vehicles. Notably, Acura's ZDX BEV will make history as the first electric vehicle to serve as the official pace car, leading the pack up the 14,115-foot summit at Pikes Peak.
