Rimac, a Croatian electric supercar manufacturer, is pushing forward with innovative mobility through its robotaxi services. This project will be one realization of Rimac's autonomous driving technology initiative.

Since 2017, the company has invested efforts and resources in autonomous driving technology. Rimac's robotaxi services, known as Verge have been on the table for a notable period already. AutoExpress shared details regarding the introduction of a fully autonomous taxi service supported by Mate Rimac.

While Rimac taxis are currently a rarity outside Dubai, this new driverless mobility venture, dubbed 'Verne,' aims to pioneer the autonomous taxi industry, commonly referred to as 'robotaxi.' The complete project specifics are set for disclosure on June 26.

At present, all that's known is that Verne, paying homage to the iconic sci-fi writer, will be spearheaded by Ignazio Morello, the former creative mastermind from Saatchi and Saatchi, a prominent advertising agency with a rich history of collaborations with major automotive brands like Mercedes, Lexus, Toyota, and Renault.

As per a report from CarScoops, Rimac's venture into the robotaxi realm, formerly identified as the Project 3 Mobility initiative, has garnered collaborative efforts from Kia and Hyundai. Earlier in the year, Rimac teased an image of the upcoming vehicle designated for their robotaxi endeavors.

The vehicle portrays a compact hatchback design and is slated for a grand unveiling on June 26, coinciding with the Verne announcement event at the esteemed Rimac Campus situated in Zagreb, Croatia.

Anticipated to commence operations in Zagreb within this calendar year, the service is poised for a subsequent expansion into the UK during the third quarter of 2025. Rimac's strategic roadmap includes penetrating the German market with Verne by the latter part of the following year.

The robotaxis are touted as groundbreaking vehicles crafted on an innovative platform emphasizing safety and comfort, allowing patrons to manage the car's entertainment system via a specialized smartphone application.

How Will Rimac Robotaxi Work

A sneak peek into Rimac's robotaxi's future was given by IntelliNews. With substantial financial backing of €179.5mn from the European Union, Rimac is pushing the boundaries of innovation in the realm of self-driving vehicles.

Their vision of a fully autonomous transportation solution includes a tailored infrastructure complete with charging points, storage hubs, and dedicated parking locations, promising a transformative impact on urban mobility.

In the upcoming weeks, Rimac has planned for two significant announcements. The first unveiling, scheduled for next week, will introduce the latest Bugatti model to the public. Following this, the subsequent week will see the debut of their highly anticipated Robotaxi project, previously identified as P3.

Alongside showcasing the vehicle, which promises to be a departure from their previous ventures, Rimac will disclose its official name. Mate Rimac, the visionary behind the company, reflected on the consistent growth trajectory, emphasizing the regularity of all-hands meetings held every six months to align on strategic objectives.

He expressed personal attachment to the project, and remarked on its significance within the company's journey.
