BMW will soon pull the plug for X4. The car brand will no longer produce a new generation for this lineup. This BMW SUV range currently has nine models.
BMW to Halt Production of X4
BMW will end production of X4. A third generation of this SUV will not be possible. The company has not yet released a date when it will pull the plug for this lineup. The expansion and overlap of the X2 series is one of the reasons BMW is discontinuing the X4 production line.
According to Auto123, in a recent statement to Motor1's Italian team, the German car manufacturer has officially announced its plan to discontinue the X4 model by the conclusion of its ongoing production phase.
This move comes due to various factors, primarily attributed to its underwhelming sales performance. Among the extensive SUV lineup, the X4 holds the eighth spot in terms of sales figures, surpassing solely the ultra-luxurious XM variant.
Additionally, as shared by CarBuzz, the latest X2 model has undergone a significant size increase and boasts enhanced refinement and sophistication compared to its predecessor.
Positioned to meet the requirements of those considering entry-level X4 models, the revamped X2 will address this segment effectively. While the larger X6 remains dedicated to serving affluent clientele.
BMW representatives elaborated on the X2's target demographic, emphasizing its appeal to a younger audience and individuals venturing into the BMW ownership experience for the first time, a market segment where the $55,000 X4 struggled to make an impact.

It has been speculated by Motor1.com that with the arrival of the redesigned X3 later this year, the continuation of the coupe-styled variant appears uncertain. The prevailing logic suggests that the model's existence may be limited, raising doubts about its longevity beyond 2025.
New Lineup from BMW
Speculations about an upcoming lineup refresh have emerged, according to reports from AutoGuide. Concurrently, BMW is engrossed in the development of the next wave of electric vehicles underpinned by the innovative Neue Klasse platform.
Plans are afoot to introduce around six distinct EV models within the upcoming four-year timeframe, with hints suggesting the potential inclusion of a coupe-inspired crossover among them.
CarBuzz also reported on a new addition to BMW's lineup. CarBuzz has reached out to BMW USA seeking additional details and anticipates updating the article upon receiving a response.
Although not officially verified, speculations hint at BMW's intention to persist in the segment. Sources suggest that an all-electric variant, potentially named the iX4, could debut as early as 2027.
The continuity of its coupe-crossover design is uncertain at this stage, presenting the X4 as an electric vehicle could attract a specific group of discerning customers.
BMW X4
