2024 MG Cyberster Convertible hits UK road. This electric car shines with style, power, and a thrilling ride experience.

Latest from MG: 2024 Cyberster

The 2024 MG Cyberster Convertible was launched in Scotland. This roadster's UK debut presents MG's effort towards electrification. This latest electric vehicle from MG offers only two base models - the Trophy and the GT. The drivetrain drew the difference.

According to an article from This is Money, under new Chinese ownership, the iconic British automaker is introducing the exhilaration of open-top, two-seater driving to contemporary audiences with its cutting-edge Cyberster EV.

Widely regarded as a modern-day embodiment of the beloved MGB, this electric marvel signifies a new era in automotive innovation and heritage-inspired design. In a statement, David Allison, the head of product and planning at MG UK, expressed his enthusiasm for the long-anticipated Cyberster electric roadster.

Describing it as a blend of classic design and modernity, he sees this car as setting the stage for MG's next century. He emphasized that the Cyberster gives a distinctive aura to the MG brand, coinciding with MG's centennial celebrations showcased at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed.

MG Cyberster Trims: Trophy, GT

Forbes reported distinctions between the Trophy and GT models: the Trophy boasts rear-wheel drive with 250kW (335hp) and 475Nm of torque, while the GT features dual motors delivering 375kW (503hp) and 725Nm of torque. Both vehicles share a standard 77kWh battery.

The Trophy sports 19-inch alloys as standard, contrasting the GT's 20-inch wheels. Despite similar color and interior options, the Cyberster offers a range of paint choices from New English White to premium grey and silver, with red and yellow available for an additional fee.

Notably, red serves as the signature color for the Cyberster, though choosing a red convertible hood incurs an extra cost, excluding red or yellow exterior hues due to color clashes.

How Much is a 2024 MG Cyberster Convertible

So, how much money does one need to get this MG car? TAG24 NEWS highlighted the Cyberster's entry-level pricing of around €60,000, positioning it as a unique electric roadster in the market. This marks a significant debut after Tesla's last roadster almost 15 years ago.

Anticipated to hit European roads in the coming months ahead of Elon Musk's upcoming release. Impressively, Chinese manufacturers have opted for a convertible top instead of a hardtop, giving the vehicle a futuristic look, which is especially notable in its spaceship-like rear design featuring striking direction indicators and a prominent spoiler lip.

The standout feature lies in its profile, where the upward-swinging electric doors echo those found on high-end hypercars. They are operable via remote control for added convenience. Additionally, the car offers a windproof fabric bonnet that can be effortlessly raised behind the seats at the touch of a button, enhancing the driving experience with a touch of elegance and practicality.

Test Drive

Forbes conducted a test drive during the 2024 MG Cyberster Convertible launch in Scotland. It also shared its insights about the car after a test drive. With swift efficiency, the automated soft top of the Cyberster seamlessly transitions from open to closed in a mere 15 seconds while cruising at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour.

Notably, in the UK variant, an effective wind deflector significantly alters interior airflow dynamics when the top is retracted. At higher speeds, the preference leans towards having the top-up for improved comfort and soundproofing within the cabin. The quick-operating mechanism enables drivers to adapt to changing weather conditions promptly.

Thus, it allows for spontaneous enjoyment of pleasant climates on A-roads or instant protection from unexpected rain showers. It noted that a compact storage area situated behind the front seats provides adequate room for essentials like a laptop bag.

Additionally, the Cyberster offers a rear luggage capacity of 249 liters, akin to that of a typical small hatchback. Unlike some hatchbacks, the rear seats of the Cyberster cannot be folded down to expand the storage space.

While the area may be shallow, it remains versatile enough to accommodate items such as golf clubs or provisions for short-term shopping needs. Finally, the test drive revealed that irrespective of the Cyberster model chosen, it offers impressive acceleration capabilities. Each variant comes equipped with four distinct drive modes: Comfort, Custom, Sport, and Track.

The Custom mode allows drivers to tailor specific settings like engine power and steering responsiveness according to personal preferences. For instance, one could opt for a more dynamic steering feel paired with reduced motor output. Notably, a prominent red button on the steering wheel activates an exclusive "Supersport" mode, optimizing engine performance by prioritizing power delivery while minimizing energy consumption from auxiliaries like climate control.
