According to Road & Track, as Mini unveils its electrified JCW model at Goodwood, the brand's press materials reveal plans for a diverse John Cooper Works lineup featuring gasoline and all-electric models in the future.

Mini has announced the absence of manual transmission in upcoming JCW models, as confirmed by statements from Vice President of Mini Americas Mike Peyton and global head of Mini product Christian Wehner. Public Debut

As reported by Autoweek, Mini plans to unveil its battery-electric JCW E PROtotype at this year's hill climb, offering a glimpse into the forthcoming production version. While specifics about this Mini prototype remain scarce, Mini assures enthusiasts that the John Cooper Works E model will boast a cutting-edge powertrain.

Although precise details are under wraps, the expectation is that this John Cooper Works-branded Mini will deliver more power than the standard Mini Cooper SE JCW, which offers 215 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. While the intricacies of the powertrain remain undisclosed, Mini sheds some light on the camouflage design featured on the PROtotype, adding an element of intrigue to the unveiling.

As Mini announces the official unveiling of the John Cooper Works E later in the year, the anticipation builds for EV and Mini enthusiasts following the dynamic teaser showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Autoweek stated that attendees who witnessed this prototype in person over the weekend provided an exclusive preview. Alternatively, for those unable to attend the event in West Sussex, a live stream offers remote viewing access to the debut.

Expectations on Mini John Cooper Works EV

Autoblog has provided insights into the anticipated features of the upcoming Mini model. It is speculated that the JCW E will likely utilize the familiar 54.2-kWh battery seen in other Mini models but with a front-mounted motor delivering performance surpassing the current 215 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque found in the Cooper SE and Cooper SE JCW variants.

Moreover, the report also shared statements from brand executives to Autocar that efforts have been made to preserve the signature "go-kart feeling" synonymous with Mini, despite the electric version's increased weight necessitating enhancements like larger wheels, wider tires for improved grip, stiffer suspension, and larger brakes. While the new platform could accommodate a dual-motor setup, this possibility appears unlikely at this stage.
