Mitsubishi Pajero will make a comeback. The famous vehicle is said to be available as a luxury hybrid SUV in 2027. If the latest buzz is accurate, Mitsubishi is all set to add another competitive, redesigned, stylish hybrid car to the market.

Mitsubishi Pajero for 2027

Reborn Mitshubisi Pajero is on the way. The iconic and well-loved vehicle joins the trend of giving an option other than traditional engines. Carsales.com noted the latest reports from Japan revealed that the new Mitsubishi Pajero set for 2027 will let go of the 4x4 off-roader's feature in exchange for a luxurious plug-in hybrid SUV

Meanwhile, according to CarScoops, Mitsubishi is considering upgrading the Pajero. This will be a more modernized version of Outlander's plug-in hybrid electric vehicle system. Its goals include better off-road capabilities and more performance. The 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero is said to draw inspiration from the Outlander model.

Recent insights from Japan, as earlier reported by CarScoops, hinted at a potential luxurious transformation for the Pajero to compete with models like the Range Rover. Reports also suggest that this renowned off-road vehicle could be reintroduced as a sophisticated plug-in hybrid SUV, taking cues from the Outlander foundation.

Yes, Mitsubishi is now eyeing the luxury off-road market.

Design and Powertrain

CarScoops shared its assumption of what this 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero would be like. The report stated its design study exhibits a distinct appearance, drawing inspiration from the Outlander while showcasing a unique floating-roof aesthetic.

CarScoops envisions its standout feature lies in its more significant proportions. It is characterized by a tall stance, heightened ground clearance, and a sharply dropping hood line reminiscent of classic Dodge Ram trucks.

Moreover, the front fascia showcases slim LED daytime running lamps positioned above geometric inlays surrounding the central headlamp units. The lower bumper is specifically designed to improve off-road approach angles. On the sides, scalloped doors, blacked-out pillars, and wheel arch moldings contribute to a contemporary and stylish profile.

At the rear, the vehicle sports a full-width, T-shaped taillamp cluster and a split tailgate with a separate glass section for easy access, enhancing functionality and visual appeal. CarScoops believed it would have a luxurious design with the interior featuring leather details.

Moreover, recent reports suggest that the next-generation Pajero is set to leverage an upgraded CMF-C/D platform and a refined iteration of Outlander's 2.4-liter plug-in hybrid engine. Therefore substantially boosting its power output. This advanced setup will incorporate two electric motors at the rear axle and one at the front, synergizing with the petrol engine for a projected performance exceeding 382 horsepower or 285 kW.

Autodeal has highlighted that the forthcoming Pajero, as reported by Best Car in Japan and echoed by drive.com, is expected to adopt a plug-in hybrid system akin to the Outlander. This hybrid configuration promises to marry performance with improved fuel efficiency, catering to environmentally conscious drivers seeking a blend of power and luxury in their vehicles. Indeed, this comeback for Mitsubishi Pajero, though set for 2027, could elicit excitement for those who love the 4x4 off-roader.
