Expectations are high for the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram Series.

According to Car and Driver, Maybach announced the vehicle during Monterey Car Week. The car will reportedly arrive in the summer of 2025 as a 2026 model in the United States.

The unit flexes a three-pointed-star standup hood ornament on its nose, and fairings on the front seats' tonneau cover art, paying homage to streamlined 1950s race cars. The paint changes were also noticeable since it incorporates a distinct scheme exclusive to Maybach.

Gorden Wagener, Maybach's chief design officer, shared that the Maybach will only include two colors: The Red Ambience and the White Ambience. A chrome trim will also be included on the car's rocker panels.

The Maybach SL will come with special 21-inch Maybach wheels and windshield surround. Aside from the vehicle's outer design, the unit is unlikely to make buzz if it weren't for its specs.

As per Autoweek, the engine is a 4.0-liter V8 with 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The specs also match the AMG SL 63 Roadster. Maybach shared that the vehicle could hit 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and max out a top speed of 161 mph.

The smooth ride is also handed out by its recalibrated suspension. It also affects the engine mounts, minimizing noise, vibrations and rough rides.

The vehicle also has noise cancellation to implement quietness inside the cabin and reduce racket from the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine. As for the interior, it displays a pleasant aura due to its white leather paint. The seats come with additional padding.

Pricing has not been announced yet, but it's expected to be more expensive than the Mercedes-AMG SL63 ($188,050) and potentially cost $250,000.

Daniel Lescow, head of Mercedes-Maybach, shared that the sporty two-seater is a great addition to the ultimate open-air roster. The vehicle is said to boast a "dynamic driving experience" with its precise craftsmanship, exquisite design and quality materials.
