Ross Gerber, a longtime Tesla investor, has given up half of his stocks from the company amid concerns about the automaker's sales performance.
Markets Insider reported this week that Gerber has surrendered half his stake in Tesla, Elon Musk's car company. According to the investor, no one seems to be interested in "buying Tesla's cars or robots."
The investor has sold 60 million worth of shares and told Yahoo Finance that his fund still contained a $50 million stake in Tesla.

Gerber also shared that he had been gradually decreasing his position since he didn't have the same assurance regarding the company's direction and probability of achieving its goals. He also shared that the gimmicks were "a distraction from the fact that they need to sell cars."
Tesla's declining sales have also led other company investors to be concerned and impatient with the automaker's direction. The 13% sales nosedive might have also resulted from China's competitive automotive sector and Musk's lawsuits.

Gerber noted that the market for used cars was also flooded by old Tesla vehicles. "We have seen sales go down and that's what's happening," Gerber stated.
"If a great quarter is what you're expecting, then you're wrong. They're not selling Tesla cars here, other than to make calls of repetitive discounts."
The news comes after a Tesla Semi crashed on a freeway in California, prompting the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board to launch an investigation. A team from the Office of High Safety looked into the risks of lithium-ion batteries.
The cooperation of the California Highway Patrol was also required in the investigation in order to examine the incident and gather facts about the events that took place before the crash.
