The BYD Seagull was the top-selling vehicle in China in August.
As per Electrek, the Seagull is BYD's cheapest release so far. Earlier in March, the Seagull EV Honor Edition was introduced to car enthusiasts with a starting price of 69,800 yuan (less than $10,000).
China's vehicle sales charts have been graced by the 2025 Seagull's sales in just five months, as the car was sold at its initial price. By 2024, BYD officially dominated the automotive sector with around one million sales of the EV.
Overall, the company had sold over 373,000 vehicles, including Plug-In Hybrids in August. A total of 148,470 vehicles that were successfully sold were vehicles, and the Seagull made a figure of 40,949, making it the best-selling A00 class model in China for six months straight.
The Seagull offers three trims, alongside two BYD Blade battery options that house 30.08 kWh or 38.88 kWh. These options can also lead the vehicle to go up to 252 miles (405 kilometers) with a CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) range.
It has also earned the moniker of "mini Lamborghini" due to its low price and the car's appearance being from Wolfgang Egger, a former designer for Lamborghini.
