Toyota has taken necessary measures to fix the 2024 Tacoma's transmission issues.

Toyota has reportedly offered to replace 2024 Tacoma transmissions with issues, Car and Driver said Thursday. The outlet also cited Road & Track's insights and shared that "less than thousands" of owners were affected by the defect.

The issue was made known as early as June 2024, as owners filed complaints regarding transmission failures. Others reportedly claimed that the transmission failures started to erupt within the first 1,000 miles of the pickup truck's life.

It shared that Toyota only plans to cover specific VINs (Vehicle Identification Number) containing the eight-speed automatic transition and that the six-speed option is spared from the defect.

The process would also differ from a recall, as the company would only be delivering the fix through a technical service bulletin from dealers. Trusted dealers were notified of the process, and they were provided with six diagnostic codes to determine the affected number of vehicles.

A technical service bulletin was also shared to the Tacoma 4G forum, where the codes indicated that the cause might be from either the pressure control solenoid actuator or the torque converter actuator being stuck.
