Tesla's Sentry Mode now has a competitor from Rivian Automotive.
Rivian has launched a feature called "Gear Guard Live Camera" this week. The security camera feature will be a new software update and rivals Tesla's Sentry Mode, which records any unfortunate occurrences during drives, Teslarati reported Wednesday.
Exterior cameras from Rivian's R1T and R1S will monitor the environment and proximity of its vehicles. According to Rivian, the feature was "top-requested" among its customers.

The carmaker specified that the feature can be accessed through the Rivian application for convenience, as the driver can be notified in case of unexpected alarms. When accessed, owners can review recorded feeds in the app.
On X (formerly Twitter), car enthusiasts conveyed their excitement over the update, as well as Rivian's consistency in software innovation.
