The United Auto Workers union has taken a step further in its protest against Stellantis.

According to Automotive News on Sunday, the UAW sought authorization from Stellantis workers for a strike against the company. The actions were brought up following the company's alleged violations of its contract promises.

Shawn Fain, the president of UAW, shared in a letter on Friday that the union has "unanimously recommended to the membership" that each UAW worker join the protest and get all members to agree to a strike at the carmaker.

The letter also added that the union had reviewed the contract violations and "patterns of illegal behavior" from Stellantis. In 2023, the company assured that it had honored its commitments with the union in an agreement.

Meanwhile, Stellantis has decided to look for CEO Carlos Tavares' successor. The current CEO's contract will reportedly expire in 2026.

Last week, it was reported that Stellantis would face an upcoming strike from Italian unions, as local metal workers and suppliers were claimed to protest against the company in October. The strike was due to the carmaker's declining production in Italy.
