Stellantis issued a recall on 194,000 Jeep plug-in hybrids.

The recall was made to address the fire risks after a total of 13 incidents were reported, Reuters learned Monday. The company also told vehicle owners to park outside and away from other cars until repairs are implemented.

Stellantis specifically recalled the 2024 Jeep Wrangler, alongside the Jeep Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrids from 2022 and 2024. The carmaker said that the issue involves a defective battery component.

According to incident reports, the fires started when the vehicles were placed into the parking spot and turned off. A 5% estimate of the vehicles may possibly contain the flaw.

Stellantis said that the depletion of the battery charge level may reduce risks. It also recommended owners to avoid recharging and to park away from structures or nearby cars. The carmaker affirmed that a solution was imminent for the defect.

A breakdown of the figure was also announced, stating that the recall may have affected 154,000 vehicles in the U.S., 14,000 in Canada, 700 in Mexico and 26,000 outside of North America.

Stellantis indicated that a company review, which conducted an internal examination of the issue, prompted the recall.
