Is McLaren's newly introduced W1 hypercar its fastest production model?
McLaren has finally unveiled the W1 hypercar, which includes new technology and a sleek exterior design. The vehicle will officially be revealed to the public on Oct. 6, Automotive News reported Monday.
Its V-8 twin-turbo engine can be cooled down by a "flow diverter," which funnels air down the rear. The car contains a horsepower of 1,275 and a torque of 959 pound-feet, as it is capable of reaching 124 mph in just 5.8 seconds.

Meanwhile, the rear displays U-shaped taillights and a carbon-fiber diffuser, located in the vehicle's center exhaust. The rear wing also extends up to six inches in track mode to get the car intact during high speeds.
An industry insider said that the W1 "has the performance of rivals twice the price." The hypercar reportedly targets the next generation of customers of the P1 hypercar by emphasizing performance on the racetrack. A total of 399 units will be built by McLaren for North American customers.
