The strategic relaunch strategy launches Lancia's return to global markets with three new premium models, starting with the much awaited Ypsilon in February.
Auto Evolution gave details about Ypsilon. The Lancia Ypsilon Edizion Limitata Cassina is a limited edition version and will be the first model of the next generation Ypsilon. Lancia has faced financial challenges and a reduced lineup, marking a departure from its racing glory days with models like the Fulvia, Stratos, Delta, and 037.
The current Ypsilon has been on the market for 12 years and is now getting a redesign. A new version of the subcompact model is set to launch in February 2024, with an official teaser hinting at an electric-only Edition Limitata Cassina variant.
Reuters reported on Monday, that Lancia announced its intention to unveil the upcoming Ypsilon compact car. This car is just one of three high-quality vehicles that the company aims to make as part of its long-term plan to expand its car sales beyond Italy.
Having dwindled to just a single model within its domestic market, the 117-year-old Lancia brand, a division of Stellantis, has outlined its future plans. These plans involve the introduction of a midsize crossover and a compact hatchback, with a focus on full electric propulsion for both models.

Continuous Partnership
Lancia has collaborated with Cassina, a renowned Italian furniture company, for this special edition. Prior to this, they teamed up to create the Pu+Ra HPE, an innovative concept car that provided a glimpse into the brand's upcoming design direction. Notably, Lancia has been the sole model in their lineup for quite some time.
The limited-edition Ypsilon will have only 1,906 units produced, chosen as a tribute to the brand's 117th anniversary. This particular version will exclusively be available as an electric vehicle (EV), but the standard Ypsilon will offer an internal combustion engine as part of a mild-hybrid powertrain.
As a result, the forthcoming third-generation Ypsilon will mark Lancia's debut in the EV segment and also serve as the brand's final vehicle with an internal combustion engine. Lancia is set to fully embrace electric technology.
Car enthusiasts can expect the unveiling of the new model in February 2024. Prior to the launch, Lancia has promised to release more details about it in the upcoming weeks. Sales are expected to commence in the summer. The production of this subcompact car will take place in Zaragoza, Spain, alongside the Opel Corsa.
