In its search to continously secure its presence in the automotive industry, Huawei continuously plunges into partnership with other auto manufacturers. The brand doesn't build automobiles itself.

Huawei's Expansion: Despite Ownership Stake

Huawei is teaming up with Changan Auto, a state-owned Chinese car manufacturer, to establish a new company with a primary focus on advanced automotive systems and components. Changan Auto will hold a stake of up to 40% in the new venture, jointly founded by Huawei.

Both want to work on smart car parts and systems. In addition to their primary goals, Changan Auto and Huawei are teaming up to develop intelligent driving solutions, smart cockpit technologies, a high-tech car platform, smart lighting systems, and augmented-reality head-up displays.

Huawei also revealed that aside from its partnership with Changan Auto it is considering to share ownership in venture with other automobile companies. Seres has mentioned that it was asked to invest in this venture. Huawei, a big telecommunications company from China, is entering the electric vehicle industry to broaden its sources of income, despite facing sanctions from the United States.

According to Carscoops, in September, Richard Yu Chengdong, who leads Huawei's car unit, said the Luxeed S7 will be better than the Model S. It will be available for sale starting November 28. The basic version has a 60.48 kWh battery and one electric motor that gives it 288 hp (215 kW).

For those who prefer more power, they can get a version with a 79.9 kWh battery and two electric motors that total 489 hp (365 kW).

According to Reuters Huawei said that the new company will work with partners to come up with new smart car technologies and make the automobile industry better. Both businesses will help the target company take the lead in smart systems and messaging for cars.
