Aston Martin has stopped making the Vanquish, which had a unique mid-engine V6 design. This decision has caused a stir in the car industry. The Executive Chairman of the company has confirmed this news. Aston Martin is now shifting its attention to different priorities instead of the Vanquish.
Shift in Focus
This significant move was officially confirmed by Aston Martin Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll back in May, signaling a strategic shift for the renowned luxury carmaker. Motor1 shared that Aston Martin's decision to halt the production of the Vanquish, with its distinctive mid-engine V6 design, carries significant implications. Stroll outlined the company's shift in focus towards other immediate goals, prominently featuring the introduction of the DB12, which made its debut later that same month.
A spokesperson for the company has explicitly stated that Aston Martin is "shifting away" from the Vanquish, along with its mid-engine V6 configuration, which had been poised to rival the Ferrari 296 GTB, amidst a flurry of forthcoming Aston Martin offerings over the next two years.
This transition was highlighted by the highly anticipated launch of the DB12 in the same month as the announcement. The Valhalla, another long-awaited Aston Martin, will undergo on-road testing by the end of 2023, marking a significant step forward for the brand.
Aston Martin is excited to test the Valhalla on the road in 2023. Given the brand's success, especially with the DBX, further special-edition models are likely. Aston Martin's inaugural foray into the world of electric vehicles is also on the horizon, scheduled for a 2025 release.
Originally introduced as a concept back in 2019, the new Vanquish was initially conceived as a high-production supercar featuring an in-house-developed twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. However, in March 2022, this plan underwent a significant change, with the decision to switch to an AMG-sourced 4.0-liter V8 engine in order to cut costs. Since then, there had been no further updates on the Vanquish until this recent development.
