The highly anticipated 2024 Lexus GX has finally undergone a significant overhaul, and it comes with some noteworthy changes. The company made a big announcement, revealing that the base model's price for the upcoming model year will see a substantial increase to $64,250, marking a $4,000 jump from the 2023 GX 460. However, enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the new Overtrail and Overtrail+ models will join the GX's lineup, complementing the Premium+ and Luxury variants instead of dominating the range.

Long Awaited Update: Lexus GX Reimagined

After more than a decade without a full redesign, the 2024 Lexus GX enters its third generation with some exciting updates. While the GX 550 Premium starts at $64,250 (excluding a $1,350 delivery, processing, and handling fee), it positions itself above the cheapest Land Rover Defender but comfortably below the least expensive Mercedes-Benz G-Class, its closest competitors in terms of luxury and off-road prowess.

As shared on Autoblog's webite, 2024 Lexus GX, an exciting transformation unfolds as the conventional 4.6-liter V8 engine bows out gracefully, making room for an innovative 3.4-liter, twin-turbo V6 powerplant. This turbocharged powertrain ushers in a remarkable surge of vigor, boasting an impressive 349 horsepower and a commanding 479 pound-feet of torque.

Paired harmoniously with a 10-speed automatic transmission and the obligatory four-wheel drive, it promises a potent fusion of performance and capability, while the fuel efficiency stands at 17 mpg combined, regrettably without distinct city/highway figures. Additionally, the towing capacity fluctuates between a substantial 6,780 to 8,000 pounds, contingent upon the selected trim.

While anticipation runs high for a forthcoming hybrid iteration, regrettably, it will not make its debut in time for the 2024 model year. Nevertheless, the revamped trim structure adheres to the traditions of a luxury SUV. Still, it warrants special mention that the Overtrail and Overtrail+ variants distinguish themselves with exclusive off-road enhancements.

These encompass 33-inch all-terrain tires adorning distinctive 18-inch wheels, an electronic locking differential, black fender accents, and a sturdy 6mm aluminum skid plate. The repertoire extends to encompass off-road-specific driving modes and a cutting-edge 3D terrain monitor, further solidifying its go-anywhere prowess.

Of particular note, the Overtrail and Overtrail+ models exclusively offer the option to equip the Toyota/Lexus Electronic-Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS). This advanced mechanical off-road system harnesses hydraulic prowess to deftly engage and disengage the GX's stabilizer bars, heightening articulation when the terrain demands it.

Additionally, MotorTrend reports, the 2024 Lexus GX undergoes a structural reshuffling as the base trim gracefully exits the stage, making way for the Premium variant as the new starting point. This transformation, however, comes with a nominal elevation in price, a testament to the expanded dimensions, augmented standard features, and the opulent appointments that define the all-new 2024 Lexus GX luxury off-road SUV.

The Price Range: Lexus GX

CarBuzz shared that prospective buyers enjoy a diverse array of exterior color options, contingent upon the chosen trim level. These choices encompass a spectrum of captivating shades, such as Eminent White Pearl, Nebula Gray Pearl, Atomic Silver (a debut for the GX), Caviar, Nori Green Pearl, and Nightfall Mica.

Notably, the Overtrail models go a step further by presenting the option of two-tone combinations, with selections like Atomic Silver, Incognito, Nori Green Pearl, and an exciting addition known as Earth, all thoughtfully harmonized with a sleek black roof.

Here is the pricing for the new improved Lexus GX. As reports stated cars will arrive in dealerships early next year.
