In its recent announcement, General Motors US deliveries ascended approximately 14% throughout 2023, showcasing a surge driven notably by the demand for electric vehicles, underlining the Detroit-based automaker's expansion in market presence. Highlighting this growth, GM records 2023 US total sales of 2.6 million vehicles, marking a substantial advancement from the prior year's figures.

GM Motors Sales Hit Record High

In 2023, the business sold 76,000 Chevrolet Bolts and other electric vehicles, although it focused on improved battery technologies. Even when the Chevrolet Bolt was discontinued, just 13,000 automobiles represented the newest battery technology segment, which G.M. wanted to appeal to more car buyers. The New York Times provided details about this latest news for GM Motors.

While the company saw an increase in the sale of electric vehicles, predominantly Chevrolet Bolts, totaling around 76,000 units in 2023, there was a shift in focus toward newer battery technology models.

Despite the discontinuation of the Chevrolet Bolt, only approximately 13,000 vehicles represented the newer battery technology segment, a sector G.M. had aimed to make more appealing to a wider range of car consumers.

Meanwhile, MT Newswires provided  a more detailed data regarding GM's sales on its lineup. In this extensive sales report, the electric vehicle (EV) sector grew 93% to 75,883 units, demonstrating General Motors' growing importance in electric mobility.

Buick, a segment under General Motors' umbrella, experienced a notable surge in sales, escalating by 61% in comparison to the preceding year, culminating in a sale of 167,030 units. These improvements in Encore GX and Envision drove this sales increase.

Meanwhile, Chevrolet sales rose 13% to 1.72 million vehicles. This surge was predominantly steered by the popularity and demand for the Trax and Trailblazer sports utility vehicles, adding to the diverse and successful sales portfolio of General Motors.

Within this success, full-year Cadillac sales surged by 9.3%, while GMC showcased an 8.9% rise, signifying the most impressive figures achieved by both brands since 2019.

Moving into the specifics of the fourth quarter, the automaker's deliveries inched up by 0.3% to reach a total of 625,176 units. During this period, Buick notably surged ahead with a remarkable 57% increase in sales.

However, Cadillac and GMC faced minor declines in sales within this quarter. General Motors ascribed a 31% sales decline in this quarter to the United Auto Workers strike, which affected GM Envolve sales, providing insights into sales trends.
