The 2025 Mazda CX-70 is finally showing up on January 30 in the US, but it's fashionably late. Originally, it was supposed to come out last year, but plans changed, and Mazda kept everyone guessing. The CEO hinted at a 2024 launch, but without any clear date.

Finally: The Launch Date, 2025 Mazda CX-70

Mazda wanted it big for the CX-70. They scheduled for its release in late 2023 as a 2024 model. After six months, though, they pushed it back to early spring. The CX-70 that was made in 2024 is now the model for 2025.

Due to this trend, the 2022 CX-50 turned into a 2023. Eventually, the 2023 CX-90 was turned in a 2024 model. Starting on January 30 at 11 a.m., the 2025 Mazda CX-70 goes on sale for the first time. That's great news for Mazda fans and everyone else who can't wait for this model to hit the market.

Reports shared Reddit user Mako3232 noticed the five-seater showcased on Mazda's Canadian website's Vehicles page. Thus, giving everyone the exact date for Mazda CX -70 launch.

What to Know About 2025 Mazda CX-70

According to Car and Driver, this model will offer a hybrid powertrain and most likely to have a 3.3 liter inline-six. Adding the CX-70 fits with Mazda's plan to increase sales in the U.S. by broadening its lineup and meeting the demand for SUVs.

Soon, Mazda will have the CX-30 in the subcompact segment, the CX-50 and CX-5 in the compact segment, and the CX-70 and CX-90 in the midsize market.

Mazda has indicated that the CX-70 will essentially be a broader version of the CX-60, an SUV currently available in Europe. Unlike the CX-90, the CX-70 will feature a shorter wheelbase while sharing the same longitudinal-engine platform. It's anticipated to share powertrains with its larger sibling.

Mazda's North American CEO, Tom Donnelly, has confirmed plans to offer the CX-70 with a hybrid powertrain, likely mirroring the setup found in the CX-90 PHEV, utilizing a 2.5-liter inline-four gasoline engine.

Additionally, the CX-70 is expected to adopt the CX-90's turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six engine, delivering either 280 or 340 horsepower based on the trim level.

As shared in Autoblog website, last month, AutoGuide uncovered Mazda's filings with the California Air Resources Board regarding the powertrains for the CX-70. Two turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six and 2.5-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid versions were planned, according to these documents.

Both variants will utilize an eight-speed transmission and incorporate all-wheel drive. However, specific power and torque details are yet to be disclosed. In the CX-90, the higher-output 3.3-liter engine generates 340 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque when running on premium gasoline.

While the lower-output version produces 280 hp and 332 lb-ft. The 2.5-liter PHEV in the CX-90 combines for 323 hp and 369 lb-ft, though the EPA has not yet released fuel efficiency data. However, estimations suggest it can cover approximately 26 miles on a single charge.

Mazda Pricing for 2025 CX-70

The anticipated price range for the 2025 Mazda CX-70 is estimated between $38,000 and $48,000, dependent on selected trims and optional features, although the official pricing is yet to be revealed. It's expected to present various trim levels akin to other Mazda models.

All models are anticipated to feature standard all-wheel drive, but the specific standard and optional powertrain configurations remain undisclosed. The plug-in hybrid setup is likely to come at an additional cost.
