While Nissan keeps the model's name under wraps, leaked presentation slides from Japan shed light on the Nismo-specific features awaiting revelation. A sneak peek on Nissan's official YouTube channel offers a glimpse of the Ariya Nismo's silhouette, unmistakably resembling its electric SUV counterpart.
CarScoops reported the connection is not coincidental, considering the previous sightings of Ariya prototypes undergoing tests at the Nurburgring. These prototypes preview a Nismo-branded product with a dramatic bodykit, larger wheels, and lowered suspension. Beyond the gloomy teaser photos, car aficionados learn about the upgrades.
The Tokyo Auto Salon's stage on January 12 will witness the official unveiling, unraveling the mysteries surrounding this electrifying addition to Nissan's Nismo lineup.
Sneak Peek: Nissan Ariya Nismo
The recent update from Japanese publication Mag X substantiates the speculations surrounding the Nissan Ariya Nismo, as apparent official presentation slides unveil the imminent enhancements. Commencing with the exterior, the Nismo-specific body kit undergoes a transformation, incorporating a revamped front bumper adorned with a prominent splitter, accompanied by analogous extensions for the side sills and rear bumper.
The Ariya Nismo comes with a supplementary lip spoiler on the tailgate and a new set of 20-inch Enkei alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport rubber. Internally, the model features bucket seats, an upgraded steering wheel, a black roofliner, and abundant red accents, enhancing the overall sporty atmosphere.
As Autoevolution reported, Nissan Ariya Nismo will carry a sportier appearance. Basically, the wheels will also be pieces of novelties. Reports shared they will be available in multiple exterior hues.
Several sources report a revamped chassis configuration aimed at enhancing cornering capabilities for the vehicle. Braking performance appears to have improved. Nissan apparently added a Formula E-inspired sound effect to improve driving.
The specifics regarding potential power upgrades for the Ariya Nismo remain undisclosed at this point. The existing range-topping model delivers 389 horsepower (395 ps/290 kW) and 442 lb-ft (599 Nm) of torque through the accelerator, featuring electric all-wheel drive. The possibility of both battery options, including a 63 kWh unit and an 87 kWh variant, being made available for the Ariya Nismo remains uncertain for now.
Meanwhile, AutoExpress shared that anticipated changes beneath the surface of the Ariya Nismo include a custom suspension and chassis setup, a common feature in Nismo models aimed at enhancing road handling. The high-performance electric vehicle is expected to adopt the dual-motor 'e-4ORCE' powertrain, similar to the one in the current range-topping Ariya, generating 388bhp and 600Nm of torque.
To compete with rivals such as the Ioniq 5 N, Kia EV6 GT, Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, or Tesla Model Y Performance, the Ariya Nismo might need to deliver significantly more power. For example, the Ioniq 5 N boasts 641bhp and 740Nm of torque, achieving 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds, while the Model Y Performance offers 527bhp and 660Nm of torque.
