Lucid's Factory Expansion Opens, Gears Up for Gravity All Electric SUV Production

Lucid expands its manufacturing facility in the United States, known as the Advanced Manufacturing Plant (AMP-1), is aimed at strengthening its production capabilities in preparation for the launch of their cutting-edge electric SUV, the Lucid Gravity. This expansion of their manufacturing plant aimed to acquire several advantages for Lucid. Such includes enhanced efficiency, reduced costs, and improved product quality.
Lucid Expands Manufacturing Facility
After a decade of planning and waiting Lucid finally unveils its manufacturing facility expansion. Lucid is committed to maintaining its manufacturing presence in Arizona, and this commitment is evident in the unveiling of the second phase of AMP-1 in Casa Grande.
As reports stated, the newest expansion is situated approximately one hour south of downtown Phoenix, Lucid has been actively involved in Pinal County since the inauguration of the initial phase of AMP-1. It was at this location that Lucid commenced the production of their remarkable Lucid Air sedans in 2021.
CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson stated that Lucid has expanded its production facility in Arizona, which is a significant accomplishment for the firm as it prepares for the next phase of its growth. Lucid, through this upgraded production facility, will be able to keep up its commitment to supply exceptional automobiles to the global market, including the much-awaited Lucid Gravity. The expansion of Lucid's manufacturing plant, AMP-1, encompasses the construction of a brand-new, extensive manufacturing facility and a warehouse, spanning an impressive 3 million square feet. When this extension is finally completed, it will combine many important operations into one campus.

These functions will include the introduction of a new General Assembly line, the establishment of new Quality and Semi-Knock Down (SKD) centers, the expansion of existing Body and Paint shops, the relocation of the Logistics center, and the relocation and expansion of the Powertrain facility. It is within this revamped Powertrain facility that Lucid's award-winning, proprietary powertrain technology will be produced.
Furthermore, as part of the expansion of Lucid's manufacturing plant, AMP-1, a cutting-edge stamping facility has been integrated into the complex. Such will ensure the highest levels of quality, enhanced flexibility, and subsequently, cost savings. The commencement of stamping operations on-site is scheduled for later in 2024.
Lucid's Gravity All Electric SUV
The estimated starting price for Lucid's Gravity is $80,000. As stated in Car and Driver, the 2024 Lucid Gravity is set to debut in Lucid's 2025 lineup, is anticipated to become available for purchase by the conclusion of 2024.
Lucid has not disclosed the precise pricing details for the Gravity model; however, they have indicated that it will commence at approximately $80,000 and include all-wheel drive as well as two electric motors as standard features.
Additionally, Car and Driver thinks, that the Gravity SUV is equipped with dual electric motors and includes all-wheel drive as a standard feature. Furthermore, it is also expected that a base model with rear-wheel drive may be introduced to the lineup at a later time. Similar to the Air sedan, the Gravity is expected to be available in a Touring version boasting 620 horsepower and a Grand Touring trim offering 1050 horsepower.
There is also the potential for a high-performance Sapphire model with a maximum of 1234 horsepower. The entry-level variant, which may be named Pure, is anticipated to deliver around 480 horsepower.
