This year, 2024 Toyota is gearing up to introduce an extreme high-performance iteration of the 2024 Toyota Supra, potentially labeling it as the GRMN version. This coming variant promises a significant boost in horsepower and a more refined, agile chassis setup.

2024 Toyota Supra GRMN Coming Soon

Recently, an undisclosed variation of the 2024 Toyota Supra was sighted during testing sessions at the renowned Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. Cloaked in camouflage, the vehicle featured a newly integrated fixed rear spoiler and sported a modified front bumper adorned with canards and an aggressive lower lip.

These teases everyone that Toyota may finally be getting ready to reveal the much awaited Supra GRMN, which would be the most performing vehicle in its portfolio. This car is prepared to deliver an exhilarating driving experience thanks to its improved six-cylinder engine and major chassis modifications.

Reports have indicated that in the 2024 Toyota Supra GRMN, there's a possibility of a significant engine upgrade. Instead of the BMW Z4-derived 'B58' straight-six engine, which currently generates 335bhp and 369lb ft of torque, the GRMN variant could adopt the 'S58' powerplant from BMW's M division.

The 'S58' engine, famously employed in the BMW M3 and M4, differs from the 'B58' by substituting twin-scroll turbochargers with a pair of single-scroll units. In order to handle the consequent power increase, it also includes an altered piston design with a larger bore and shorter stroke in addition to stronger internal components.

This engine has remarkable adaptability, providing a broad spectrum of power outputs, ranging from 454 horsepower and 406 pound-feet in the new BMW M2 to an incredible 552 horsepower and 405 pound-feet in the limited-edition BMW 3.0 CSL. The 2024 Toyota Supra GRMN's goal to provide a high-performance driving experience is hinted at by this possible engine swap.

Specific information about the vehicle remains tightly guarded at this early stage. However, if the new car indeed adopts the S58 engine, it is expected to significantly reduce its 0-62mph acceleration time, which currently stands at 4.3 seconds.

The car's suspension may also be modified to be somewhat lower than the original model in order to increase turn agility, according to the covertly captured images. Additionally, it can be observed that the vehicle is equipped with track-style 10-spoke alloy wheels and seemingly features a slimmer tire profile compared to the current Supra.

The Prototype

As reported by Auto Express, the 2024 Toyota Supra GRMN prototype exhibits subtle visual enhancements, primarily in the form of more pronounced aerodynamic features at the front splitter and the introduction of an elevated rear wing. However, a closer inspection reveals noteworthy alterations such as a fresh lightweight wheel design adorned with Michelin tires, and a more substantial brake setup situated behind these wheels.

Additionally, the vehicle's body appears to be positioned at a lower height on its suspension system compared to the current model, indicating a comprehensive recalibration tailored specifically for the GRMN variant of the 2024 Toyota Supra.

In order to improve cooling, the brake discs have also been perforated. This will lead to more reliable performance in high-stress scenarios that are repeated, like those found on a racetrack.

The ongoing refinement of the vehicle at the Nordschleife adds weight to the speculation that a high-performance variant of the new Supra might resurrect Toyota's GRMN badge, which stands for 'Gazoo Racing, tuned by the Meister of the Nürburgring.' This emblem has, thus far, been exclusively employed in Europe for a supercharged, high-performance edition of the previous-generation Yaris.
