The Tesla Cybertruck releases its first batch of over-the-air (OTA) software updates since its delivery commenced in November of the previous year. However, the enhancements introduced by the latest iteration fall short of expectations. Notably, Tesla's Autopilot automated driving assistance system is currently absent, though potentially forthcoming.
OTA Update Includes Charging Prompt
Tesla encounters serious problems when launching its new vehicles, prompting the leading EV manufacturer to adopt a cautious stance. For instance, the Cybertruck debuted with certain functionalities disabled.
As per 24 Sports US, both Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Capability remain inactive, and criticisms have been directed towards charging speed. Nonetheless, drawing from Tesla's track record, it's understood that the company swiftly addresses such issues and continually refines features and performance through subsequent software updates. Consequently, the debut of the Cybertruck's initial over-the-air (OTA) update is eagerly awaited.
The long-awaited Tesla Cybertruck OTA Update, version 2024.2.3, has finally been released, meeting expectations with flying colors. While it doesn't activate the most advanced driver assistance features, it introduces substantial enhancements in two crucial aspects.
According to the update details, Tesla has improved the Cybertruck's driving experience and fine-tuned charging efficiency with a new Charging Reminder feature. By adjusting battery preconditioning to match the power output of DC fast-charging stations, this improvement maximizes charging. Faster charging rates and shorter dwell times at charging stations are the outcomes of this.

Meanwhile, InsideEVs reported that the Tesla Cybertruck OTA Update, though eagerly awaited, still lacks the Autopilot automated driving assistance program, at least in its current iteration.
It shared as per the release notes shared by u/Shygar on Reddit yesterday, the 2024.2.3 software version includes a Charging Reminder feature. This addition prompts users to plug in their Cybertruck when parked at home with less than half of the set Charge Limit. The update also fixes a minor text recall issue affecting all Tesla models sold in the U.S.
In terms of driving enhancements, the V2024.2 update introduced a refined battery preconditioning algorithm. In an effort to maximize charging efficiency, this algorithm dynamically adjusts to the power output of each DC charging station.
The release notes also shared improvements to the driving experience Enhanced ride and handling qualities that provide more reliable performance on different types of roads are among them. Additionally, there's a noticeable increase in comfort levels when operating in Sport Mode or when Custom Ride & Handling is configured to Focused mode. Additionally, pitch and body roll are reduced in Off-Road Mode. Thus, making for a more stable driving experience.
What's Missing in Tesla Cybertruck OTA Update
Autopilot functionalities and parking visualizations, including the vision-based parking assist feature, remain absent. Furthermore, customers who have purchased Tesla's Full Self-Driving advanced driver-assistance system are unable to activate it in the Cybertruck.
Additionally, virtual locking differentials are not mentioned in the release notes for the latest software update.
