GM Temporarily Stops Sales of 2024 Trucks Over Software Quality Issues

On Tuesday, General Motors declared that some of its trucks would not be sold going forward. The mid-size GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado vehicles from 2024 are affected by this stoppage. This situation is only temporary. The reason for this is intermittent software quality issues. The company stated that a solution has been identified, and the voluntary pause is aimed at addressing the software issues before the vehicles are delivered to customers.

Temporary Halt on Sales: 2024 Trucks Over Software Quality Issues

GM confirmed that the trucks which have undergone the software fix are already en route to dealerships. The automaker intends to promptly lift this temporary hold in order to expedite the delivery process and ensure a swift resolution for its customers.

According to Fox News, in a statement provided to it by General Motors, the latter expressed their commitment to quality and the customer experience, acknowledging their disappointment in the decision to temporarily pause sales. They emphasized that software updates will remain an integral part of the process as their vehicles evolve with advancing technology.

GM emphasized that they have established a top-tier software leadership team dedicated to promptly addressing any short-term issues and implementing long-term improvements, including an overhaul of the software development and validation processes.

They expressed confidence in delivering vehicles with software that surpasses expectations. Additionally, GM clarified that the software issue does not affect the 2023 Colorado and Canyon trucks currently at dealerships or those already sold to customers, and they have no plans for a recall to address the issue.

The decision to temporarily halt sales follows General Motors' previous action in late December, where they suspended sales of the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV to resolve a software-related issue concerning user notifications. The company stated today that they are working tirelessly to address the software quality issues encountered by some customers with the Blazer EV and are making significant strides in this endeavor.

2024 Chevrolet Colorado

A 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four engine and an eight-speed automated transmission come standard on all variants. Higher trims like the ZR2 have a more potent 310-horsepower engine, while the base WT and LT trims have a 237-horsepower powerplant. All Colorado comes with a five-foot bed and a four-door cab arrangement.
