Recall Alert: Erroneous Catalytic Converter Service Parts
As reported by GM Authority , the car brand, GM announced its latest recall. If a Cadillac Escalade SUV has been fitted with the incorrect catalytic converter, it may no longer meet crucial emissions standards, potentially leading to its failure during a state emission assessment.
As a first step, dealership technicians need to confirm if a Cadillac Escalade unit is part of the voluntary emissions recall. Vehicles affected by this issue are identified as "Open" on their Investigate Vehicle History page, which is accessible through the GM Global Warranty Management system.
Upon verification, dealership service personnel are directed to install a new L87 3-way catalytic converter in the SUV. This process also involves installing two exhaust system seals and is expected to require approximately 1 hour and 36 minutes of labor. Customers will receive reimbursement for the repair.
The exact number of vehicles impacted by this voluntary emissions recall is presently unknown. Dealerships have been instructed to hold onto the impacted automobiles in stock until the required repairs are completed in both the USA and Canada. Until the proper repair procedure has been completed, these vehicles cannot be sold, delivered, transferred to another dealership, or used for testing.
