In the upcoming year, purchasers of the 2024 Ford Mustang will have the option to acquire a satin finish straight from the factory. This offering isn't limited to select trim levels or exclusive paint schemes, as it can be paired with any Mustang color. While every Mustang coupe can receive the factory-applied film for an additional $5995, convertible models will need to await its availability until the fall.

Matte Finish for 2024 Ford Mustang: Matte Clear Film

The 2024 Ford Mustang lineup will introduce a fresh clear film for a stylish matte appearance. The paint protection film from Ford can be applied to any factory color, providing coupes and convertibles with a sleek satin finish by the end of the year. This option will be available for the 2024 Ford Mustang models.

As reported by Motor1.com, Ford has introduced the Matte Clear Film option for the 2024 Ford Mustang lineup. This paint protection film, developed by PPG, will initially be accessible for coupes and will later extend to convertibles.

It can be applied over all existing factory color options, delivering a refined satin finish that is included in Ford's standard warranty coverage. Notably, this option is also compatible with the Dark Horse variant.

Despite being offered in various colors, there are certain restrictions on the use of the film. Ford specifies that it cannot be combined with the California Special package and is not compatible with optional graphics packages for both GT and EcoBoost models.

Additionally, for the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, choosing the Matte Clear Film option entails removing the hood accent stripe and precludes the selection of painted racing stripes. Interestingly, removing graphics for the Dark Horse will now be feasible even without opting for the Matte Clear Film, as Ford aims to create a "more under-the-radar appearance" for the vehicle.

Car and Driver reports that Ford has announced the availability of the optional film for all new Mustang coupes, starting from tomorrow. The film, which produces a satin-like finish, will be available for purchase, with initial deliveries expected to commence in June. Priced at an additional $5995, the film comes with a warranty matching the pony car's standard limited warranty, lasting three years or 36,000 miles.

The film manufactured by PPG not only imparts a stylish matte appearance to every Mustang but also serves as a protective layer for the paint. Ford emphasizes that the film is engineered to withstand various elements such as road salt, bird droppings, and asphalt residue. Furthermore, it can endure the effects of potent chemicals used in hand-washing or at touchless car washes.

As reported by Edmunds, the 2024 Ford Mustang comes with several advantages. These include high-tech interior displays that respond quickly and are user-friendly, as well as strong acceleration across all engine options. Additionally, it offers improved practicality with spacious rear seats and a larger trunk compared to its competitors.

However, there are some drawbacks to consider, such as the lack of a significant performance boost, a perceived downmarket feel in the interior fit and finish, and the substantial cost of desirable add-on features.

Noteworthy updates for the 2024 model year include a revamped interior featuring larger screens and a modern layout, refreshed exterior styling with new body panels except for the roof and front pillars, and the introduction of the Dark Horse version, which comes with enhanced chassis tuning and a 500-horsepower V8 engine.

These changes mark the beginning of the seventh generation of the Mustang.
