The smallest addition to the Alfa Romeo lineup debuts with options for both electric and internal combustion engine versions. With a 237 horsepower, the Veloce flagship EV leads the pack. Milano, Alfa Romeo's first electric car, is proudly unveiled, representing a major turning point in the history of the company.

Milano, First Ever EV for Alfa Romeo

Positioned as Alfa Romeo's latest entry-level crossover, the Milano slots beneath the Tonale and Stelvio models. Scheduled for a European release later this year, there are currently no plans for a North American launch.

Offered in both pure electric (Ellettrica) and mild-hybrid (Ibrida) variants, the Milano features a potent 237 horsepower in its Ellettrica Veloce iteration. As the third SUV in Alfa Romeo's portfolio, it distinguishes itself as the sole model offering pure electric propulsion, complementing the existing Stelvio and mid-size Tonale.

CarScoops claims that the Alfa Romeo Milano shares the same chassis as the Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600. But it looks more aggressive. It is Alfa Romeo's first entry into the electric car market, positioned as the brand's smallest offering aside from the Giulia sedan, Stelvio, and Tonale crossovers.

Emphasizing athleticism, especially in its flagship Ellettrica Veloce guise, the Milano aims to dominate its competitive segment. This top-tier version boasts a robust 237 hp electric motor and refined chassis dynamics for superior handling. Alongside fully electric models, the Milano will also offer Ibrida variants featuring a mild-hybrid powertrain, automatic transmission, and optional all-wheel drive.

Preview: What to Expect

Exceeding the length of the Jeep Avenger by 86 mm (3.4 inches), the Alfa Romeo Milano matches the dimensions of the Fiat 600 while remaining 134 mm (5.3 inches) shorter than the Peugeot 2008. Alfa Romeo incorporates unique features to distinguish the Milano, including bespoke graphics on the infotainment system and the Cannocchiale digital instrument cluster.

For enthusiasts seeking a sportier experience, an optional sports package offers Sabelt seats upholstered in Alcantara. Alternatively, other trims showcase Spiga vinyl and fabric upholstery complemented by a leather steering wheel.

According to The Sunday Times Driving, the design of the boot lid of the Alfa Romeo Milano pays homage to the stunning 1960s Giulia TZ, creating a visually elongated appearance. This design not only adds aesthetic appeal but also maximizes practicality by providing 400 litres of boot space. Additionally, Alfa Romeo includes a "cable organiser" under the bonnet for added convenience.

Inside the cabin, Alfa Romeo Milano features a digital instrument cluster measuring 10.25 inches, nestled within the brand's signature "telescope" design. Adjacent, a second 10.25-inch touchscreen display is positioned at the center of the dashboard, oriented towards the driver for easy access and navigation.

Below, a row of physical buttons controls climate settings, while a sleek center console houses a wireless phone charging pad and a toggle rocker switch for the automatic transmission. Alfa Romeo has confirmed that the Milano will distinguish itself in the segment by offering four-wheel drive, setting it apart from competitors.

The electric variant, known as the Milano Elettrica, utilizes a 54kWh battery, providing an official driving range of 255 miles. However, real-world conditions such as temperatures below 23°C and motorway driving may reduce this range.
