In November 2021, NHTSA issued recall 21V-872 for 409 Maserati MC20, Ghibli, and Quattroporte units due to fuel line sensor housing issues, posing fire risks. Maserati recall continues this April 2024. Maserati North America Inc. expands recall, including few Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans produced from April to August 2021.
Maserati Recall Continues Due to Fuel Leak
Autoevolution revealed that Maserati North America Inc. discovered an additional 58 vehicles in April 2024 that may have fuel line sensor housing defects. A limited number of Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans built between April and August 2021-during the 2021 and 2022 model years-are notably affected by this recall extension.
Among the 58 vehicles subject to recall, there are 28 Ghibli units and 30 Quattroporte units. However, Maserati did not specify whether these vehicles were fitted with V6 or V8 engines. The supplier, Hutchinson Poland Sp. z o.o., identified additional potentially faulty sensor housings.
Maserati North America Inc. confirmed no fires linked to the issue. Improper molding leads to housing cracking. Replacement components with correct molding (part number 670153442) will be installed by dealers nationwide by May 30, 2024.
Furthermore, a notable point is that Maserati ceased production of V8 vehicles in late 2023. The Ghibli, Quattroporte, and Levante models now exclusively feature six- or four-cylinder engines.
Affected owners will receive notifications by first-class mail around May 30. Meanwhile, owners can check if their Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans are part of the recall by entering the 17-character VIN on the federal agency's website.
2024 Maserati Ghilbi
As per Car and Driver's review, the base model in Maserati's lineup of sports sedans is the 2024 Ghibli. Ghilbi offers strong acceleration. But the Ghibli is lacking in other ways as well, most notably in terms of its antiquated electronics and poor interior fit and finish.
Additionally, the review notes that the era of the V-8-powered Ghibli is drawing to a close. To mark this occasion, Maserati will introduce a special Trofeo 334 Ultima trim. This variant will feature distinctive styling elements, distinguishing it from its V-6-powered counterparts.
Although the exterior showcases Italian flair, the interior fails to meet the anticipated levels of luxury. Some interior components are borrowed from lower-tier vehicles within the Stellantis product lineup.

Nonetheless, buyers have the option to customize the Ghibli with impeccably stitched leather-and-silk seats, a faux-suede headliner, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. Notably, the Ghibli boasts a larger trunk space compared to both the E-class and the A6.
Additionally, every Ghibli model is equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system showcases a glossy display and operates on a modified iteration of Google's Android Automotive interface. Standard features include navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, as well as compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Quattroporte Sedans
It's expected that Quattroporte will have its final iteration in 2024 before it's significant upgrade the current-generation. Furthermore, Car and Driver speculated that Quattroporte is expected to make a comeback in a few years as an entirely revamped model, featuring an electric variant likely named Quattroporte Folgore, inspired by the GranTurismo.
In their assessment of the 2023 model, Edmunds examined the Quattroporte, which is offered in three distinct trim levels: GT, Modena, and Trofeo. Each trim level features a unique powertrain configuration, with only the Modena variant offering all-wheel drive, referred to by Maserati as the Modena Q4.
They recommend opting for the Modena trim. Not only does it boast a more potent engine compared to the GT model, but it's also the sole version of the Quattroporte offering all-wheel drive. Additionally, they favor the Modena's more assertive styling over that of the GT.
