Audi Sets Sights on 2026 for Last Gas-Powered Car Release

In 2021, Audi declared its intention to discontinue the sale of internal combustion engine (ICE) models after 2033. CEO Gernot Döllner further confirmed in 2023 that the production of the last gas-powered vehicle is slated for 2026. Audi is set to introduce over 20 new or revised electric models by 2025, with the debut of the Q6 e-tron among the planned releases. The company aims to achieve parity in revenue generated from electric vehicles and ICE models by the end of the decade. Audi's progressive approach stands in contrast to other automakers such as Mercedes-Benz, who intend to persist in the production of ICE vehicles.
